Hello everyone! It's been so long since I posted on these forums but I have decided to get back into the habit. My spending and lack of control has really creeped up on me in the past few months so I'm taking back the reigns and cracking the whip.
- Didn't prepare lunch for work (tut tut) so had to purchase from the canteen, went for the cheapest option which is soup and a dry roll - DONE
- Checked my online banking - DONE
- Log into MSE and post - DONE, yay! :j
Tonight;
- Prepare lunch for work and leave soup tin and flask next to microwave in prep for tomorrow morning
- Walk for 30 mins, even if the rain is still on, no excuse as I have waterproofs
- Spend 30 mins tidying the bombsite which is spare room #1
- Put all washing away, the spare bed is not where clean clothes should be stored!
Hope everything has a great day!Debt-Free Jan 2021 - My DFD post - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78007784#Comment_78007784Keep going, you will get there!0 -
Afternoon all,
Have any of you lovely lot got a good recipe for me to use up my quinoa? I have about 1/2 a bag (approx. 150g) that's been in my use up box since I started it more then a year ago!
I searched quinoa in bbcg00df00d which is my favourite website at the moment and loads came up including porridge for breakfast. Have a look and see what other things you have to go with0 -
lego mum have you tried using it for stuffed peppers? (also works well with cous cous). A friend of mine regularly put it in soup for some floating carbs.
I can also recommend it as lunchbox salad food - you can probably use it for most things where you could conceivably use cous cous. Hope this helps! (now you mention it, I also have the end of a bag to use up!)

Evening all
Legomum - I use quinoa instead of rice in rice pudding. Bung it in the slow cooker with milk, sugar etc and I like it just as much.
Another utterly manic day - and my mood is all over the place. Week 4 and I'm exhausted - didn't get in until after 7 tonight. I'm a mainscale teacher for goodness sakes, with 2 kids to look after.
Anyway, on the plus side, my PPI cheque arrived today. It's a shade over £3000 for a loan I took out almost 20 years ago. I was expecting a few hundred pounds at very most so a lovely surprise.
I have also:checked banking and PAD to the money box

marked a set of books
stayed cool during a tough day at work
delivered handmade gift to bestie for her birthday
meals from stores (actually made a curry today)
Not much else but at least that's something. Not giving up

I keep trying to find time to focus on the small things but the big things have been hitting me at gale force 10 for weeks. It's been a very emotional day but I will note my small successes as a mindfulness exercise if nothing else.
1. Didn't buy any food today as there was still tonnes of roast pork available from an event this weekend.
2. Bought supermarket own brand bin bags and scrubbers
3. Bought a good luck card for my friend who has started her first new job in years today. Used nectar points so free.
4. Walked card to friends house to save the stamp.
5. Hung the washing out
6. Checked both sets of banking
7. Paid £25 off my cc
8. Took snacks from home for school run.
9. Drinks from home
10. Saved money on bus fare now the hopper fare is in place.
Cool about your cheque CCL" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hi all.
Am keeping to packed lunches but as a consequence my food bill is up. Lettuce does not keep a week and I feel slightly out of control. Dd is home from summer job at the weekend and as she passes ald-s each day she will get what we need as we do. I have done a massive store cupboard fill up. It should've just milk and fresh fridge stuff for 3 months.
Right I am off to walk dogs and pick another bowl of autumn raspberries. This year fruit has been amazing.
Happy Tuesday.

Morning intrepid budgeteers,
Today I'd planned to go into town for a nice mosy about, coffee & cakeypoo......then last night it dawned on me that today is actually my Big Budget Day. Potentially spendy little trip cancelled. Will be at my desk with my money book & trusty calculator instead. Bring on more coffee!

Legomum- I made cheat's use-it-up peppermint creams last year. I bought some Co-op white fondant icing to ice a cake & had some leftover. Froze it to see if it would freeze. Months later, I defrosted it, kneaded in some peppermint essence, made peppermint cream shapes & half-dipped them in a little melted bar of Aldi's basic dark chocolate. They really worked & I shall make sure I freeze leftover fondant icing in future to make some more. They were nice enough to serve with coffee after a special meal.
