  • Good morning everyone :coffee:
Apologies for my absence over the past few days - I have been reading but too busy and too tired for a check in. Seems as though September has been a tough month for a few - hope things are looking up soon for everyone.
I've chalked up a few nsd's over the week, which is one of the bonuses of being busy. I have completely blown the grocery budget though. Just can't bring myself to get into the habit of meal planning and cooking so a lot of stuff seems to be grab and go at the moment foodwise. Not good for my wallet or my waistline :(
It has been an eventful week really, which has involved me burning my face with acid, falling out with a senior teacher at work, setting my lab on fire, starting a long fight with ds's football coach... Never a dull moment. Also, on Thursday I went to see the doctor about my constant tiredness and aching (after much nagging from people on here I must say). I asked her to tell me it was just stress and being busy and she said that was probably some of it, but that I do also appear to have an enlarged thyroid. I'm waiting for an ultrasound appointment and to have some blood tests done but nobody seems too concerned so I'll try not to be.
Today's plans are limited to ds football and gymnastics plus tutoring and a small Aldee shop. I've just realised how late in the year it is and I need to be madly continuing with my handmade Christmas...
  • I'm back - my internet has been really unrelable recently but it appears to be working for now!

Spends - Friday was a NSD - so I'm now at 8/14. Was really hoping for more this week but hopefully next week will be better.

Presents - I've done nothing here. Apart from the list I've got very little. Im trying to save for Christmas though - I'll have to drastically decrease the allotted budget though. Christmas V. Wedding - Wedding wins!!!!

I had a nice long soak last night reading my book so that's done good 'me time' - also had a lie in this morning!!!!

Meet - meeting up with friends tonight!! Time to celebrate! Looking forwRd to this. :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
Such a busy week...not had a chance to post an update.
8/14 so far, which is better than a usual month but may not get much higher, as on holiday this week camping in the New Forest.
Had a lovely morning today walking the dog round a park with a friend (tho NSD broken by a cuppa at the house - beautiful grounds, couldn't resist!) That counts as exercise though, and we resisted the cake...
Although not had as many NSDs as I'd hoped, I'm chuffed that I managed to stick to my goal of having £250 remaining at the end of the month towards spending money, fuel and food.
Done lots of sorting, although on return need to clear under the bed. Might grab some bits for a food bank donation on the holiday shop.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx
  • Ccl - glad your dr is doing further investigations and didn't just say what you asked them to say!

Greent - ouch to the car spends. That is a lot of pennies.

Toni'sfriend - good news about C's sister being nearer to you. Bless you for your visiting so regularly.

Spends – Now up to 8 NSDs

Eating – we've been sticking to the meal plan with the exception on a takeaway mexican last night as we were both worn out and late.

Presents – Christmas list written but very few ideas on it so far. I've got enough cards but no wrapping paper.

Time – need to work on this one. I've got the house to myself tonight which is a good start but it's really hard during the week.

Empty – I'm generally trying to keep on top of the dust etc but it's not easy with building work!

Meet – I'm going riding tomorrow with a friend I haven't seen since July.

Bed– I've found the new bed I want and will order it tomorrow while it's still on sale. I'm not sure about the mattress yet. I'm trying to get a good firm one that isn't cripplingly expensive!

Exercise – I've been walking with the dogs most days and went to yoga and pilates this week.

Reading – still reading the same book!

DH is out so I'm enjoying some me time :)

Spends - £124 in Asder last night, £5 on beer tonight and £85 on a meal for 5 as we treated DM and step dad

Eats - Eaten 3 proper meals today which is an improvement ;)

Presents - Not bought or sourced anything else but put DMs favourite chocs on the list

Time for me - read a good hour of my book whole DS was in Karate

Empty - Have added to the drawers I wanted to clear out!

Meet - Visitors this weekend and going to text friend about pictures as I fancy seeing Bridget Jones Baby

Bed - DH and I have decided on the type of bed we want for our room and guest room. Tomorrow we will be tackling the tip that is our 4th bedroom/office

Exercise - Long walk with the dog this afternoon

Reading - I will have finished my 3rd book this month by tomorrow. I picked up a paperback at a charity table in the local supermarket so will start that next.

I love to read and this challenge is making me focus on it more this month but I haven't stepped foot in the library. If I went after work I would have to pay for parking and I cant go on a Saturday when I could have a longish walk there as DS has sports all Saturday morning. Actually the 30p parking would save me money on kindle books and I would like some audio books to play on my long driving days so I will pop in next Friday when I am working from home.

    Plans for tomorrow:

    Morning with visitors
    DS at Rugby
    Run
Sort out bedroom 4 and laundry
    Change sheets
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • All completed library books returned and another 11 brought home. Still have a large sf book and two Christmas craft books from the old lot. Don't need a lot for our Christmas but I like crafting (especially Christmas) and the crafts group means I can indulge and let other people take the results home.

Some spending including ys 1/2 leg of lamb (already in freezer, Christmas dinner sorted), 2 packs of low fat turkey sausages (1 frozen one left to cook/ turn into pigs in blankets) and some frying steak.

There are still some things in the freezer but definitely 'ingredients' rather than meals - veg, chops, chicken breasts and miscellaneous bits.

Have sorted an 'emergency' plan - several time consuming but low concentration/ medium to low energy required jobs. Will plod through whilst I am feeling uninspired and lacking get up and go. Want to do the outside jobs (painting fence post, cleaning and painting large old plant pots, weeding and clearing space for the roofers to work) whilst the weather stays good.

Bedding is nearly all done - on standby for when the temperature starts dropping. Other than that trying to put a basic maintenance plan in place for me - eat properly/ walk lots/ sort sleep pattern (or at least get lots of sleep) and adding a few home papmpering treats (thinking leisurely bath followed by slow moisturising/ body cream). Screen time is still low, replaced by reading.

Today I am grateful for meat bargains (getting rarer these days), for libraries and for the companionship of my crafts group (we are a very strange mixture but it works and I feel comfortable there).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Crikey, the week has flown by and I have not been able to pop in and check how you all are, I see we have some things to celebrate and some things which need hugs ((( )))

I know I keep saying it but everyone really is doing brilliantly this month.

Since I posted on Monday I have had a NSD on Tues, a spend day on Weds + Thurs, a NSD on Friday and yesterday. Today will be a spend day as need butter and a few other bits and pieces.

Had our Smallholder Group AGM yesterday and we do a bring and share meal so I will count that as one of my challenges - I did potato salad, carrot, tomato and onion salad, beetroot and a veggie bake.
Others did other salad things and loads brought dessert. It was a great afternoon.

Haven't checked my goals this month to see how I am doing but will try to do that later today or tomorrow.
  • Today I am having a PJ day. I am shattered and I intend to sit on my backside and do literally nothing... Well, not literally nothing, but the bare minimum. I'm thinking I might read some more of my book but the main priority is for me to continue my handmade Christmas. I finally feel as though I might be making progress there...
  • Morning Everyone

    17th September

Today was a bit of a write off. Had to buy pitta bread for the chilli because I forgot to get it yesterday. That's what happens when you don't take a shopping list with you!

We were going to walk along the river to visit C's sister but the rain started so we had to get a bus. The place she's moved to is really nice and the staff are wonderful but she was just too tired to talk to us and seemed very down. Said she didn't want any visitors tomorrow so we'll try Monday instead. Consequently we only stayed for about fifteen minutes before she asked us to leave.

The visit kind off threw us off track so I accomplished nothing and even forgot to take the ingredients for Sunday's dinner out of the freezer.

Let's hope tomorrow is a better day.

    Have a good day.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
