    Good morning,

today was meant to be a SFD but don't feel like the gym so might browse the charity shops at lunchtime. Looking for little ceramic pots or cups and saucer sets to make into candles and similar for christmas. Browsed Amaz)n this morning and put some things in my basket for various kids to revise later (mostly educational stuff like learning time and counting games).

EDIT back from the CS and got one wee bowl to make into a candle, 6 lots beads and ribbon for christmas crafting, and a complete Scrabble game (always fancied one for winter nights). Total spend £9.74. But that will come out of my christmas savings. Still lost an SFD to crisps though :(.

Was meant to start tidying the guest bedroom but maybe I continue on the christmas theme and look out my card making stash tonight when OH is at football.

    See you later

P.S. does anyone know a good way of cleaning a rug/carpet without V@nish. I read spraying it with vinegar and baking powder but not sure about making it wet.

  • Thanks for the messages guys, my mum messaged me yesterday to tell me my granny, who has alzheimers, had a fall yesterday, broke her hip and was in surgery. This on top of my dog passing away and recently being told my uncle has lymphatic cancer. They say things come in threes, so I hope I've had my quota.

On the plus-side, it was quiet enough in work to get some reading done, and buried in my book I held out for the entire shift. The supervisor said I could go home if I wanted, but as I would lose pay I'm glad I stayed.
I ended up finishing 'The Martian' just before my shift ended, so that was well timed :rotfl: I really enjoyed the book, it reminded me of my fav author Michael Crichton.

    Spends – 6/14
Bed – BF has finally picked in the toms
Reading – Finished my book, on the lookout for the next one.

  • Morning everyone,

Managed my NSD yesterday as predicted. Given we've 15 days left in the month and I need 13 more NSD's is a big ask. My aim is to at least get a NSD for each weekday that'll tick off a few.

I've brought my lunch into work today and we've a staff BBQ tonight so I should manage another NSD today :)

In my new job, they have a cafe which opens 12noon-1.30pm and they serve really really nice lunch options. All fresh and at very cheap prices. I can already feel myself being tempted.
  • Hello

    14th September

Bought four packs of reduced mince. There was none left in the freezer and we do use an awful lot.

Smoked salmon quiche for tea from freezer. Had another baguette at luchtime with the leftover chicken. The rest is in the soup which we'll have for dinner tomorrow night. Menu planned for next week.

Haven't done much extra tidying for a few days. Really have to get back into it next week.

    Walk to shops and back.

    Another few Christmas cards addressed.

Had a pot of tea in bed and read a few chapters of the new book.

Hope you all have a good day

Thank you, the op went well and now shes recovering in the hospital. I'll be down her way for the wedding on Saturday so will pop in for a visit on the sunday before coming home.

NSD 7/14 for me today, halfway there!!
BF has bought most of the groceries this week, and is picking up more on his way home today, so it's probably my turn soon.

  • Epic fail on NSD's. I've had 6 no grocery spend days and 3 personal. Only 1 totally NSD in 15. I'm horrified. I really need to stop the small spends, they are really mounting up.

    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • Hello,

no NSD here today. Our neighbour died after short illness (motor neurone), so bought a card. Will also need milk and bread tonight.

Signed up to pintrest now and started looking for ideas for christmas cards, home made gifts etc. Got loads of ideas already. But will keep looking for a while till I got a good amount of things to choose from and price them up. Will also need to choose things that don't don't take ages. Can't wait to get started, but then it's only the middle of September and a lot of things have to be made closer to the time apart form cards etc

Gosh this thread moves fast when you are away for a couple of days! I haven't caught up with everyone's goings on yet but hope you are all doing well and hugs to anyone who might need one.

Spends - are not going well. Food budget is blown again  We do spend too much and some gets wasted but I also wonder if I set it at an unrealistic level which is too low for us given our particular work and travel schedule.

The rest of the budgets are OK or have been adjusted for underspending in one to compensate for extra needed in another. The joy of YNAB :)

    Eats - terrible

Presents - DS wants a chocolate orange ;) so have added it to his list and have seen some edible presents for stepdad.

Time for me - not a chance this week, but did spend some time with DS playing maths games on the laptop at his request

Empty - I need to go on the naughty step for this.

Meet - Visitors this weekend :D

Bed - I have managed to wash 1 duvet but the area I wanted to tidy is worse! DS was sick on his duvet last night so one step forward, 1 step back.

Exercise - Ran a half marathon last weekend, does that count as a months worth of exercise? ;):rotfl: First PT session in a fortnight tonight

Reading - I am still reading the thriller I started at the beginning of the month but have also read 1 short chic lit style book and half way through another novel. The thriller is a real book while the others are on my kindle app on the phone so were read while I was away this week.

I can't remember if I said that I got the promotion I went for.

It's my wedding anniversary today and in our usual fashion no £s have been spent on cards, gifts or nights out ;)
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
