Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

As this I a new thing from Sky about being able to leave a contract due to mid contract price rise ( I think this is the 1st time) this is an unknown area
They may give people an offer to keep them but will that start a new contract and then the same thing happens next year.
You can call them but then you have to decide if it's worth leaving if you don't get a deal or just pay the price rise.

Yeh I wouldnt be leaving over £8 tbh as even with this increase the overall price I will paying is still pretty fair I think, if it goes up again by £8 or more next year then things will be different but then ill be out of contract within a few months anyway

It's only a new thing for Sky regarding HD & Q television, I left their BB in early May 2024, due to the price rises. They didn't bother offering me anything from memory and I've been with VM ever since (although theirs is coming up in about 3 months 😉 ).
I kept all the Sky emails in their own folder and having just checked, they did send me the almost obligatory "ETC's" email twice. The second was a whole 5 weeks later from initial contact and actually charged me £51, I must have had to call or email them to sort that as it shows as a credit on the account very shortly after😡

They wouldn't break it down on the phone. Just overall cost was given. Didn't feel like they were bothered about me staying with them at all!
Good point others have made about mid contract hikes too, have fallen foul of that in the past too...

Just completed an acceptable (to me) deal although had to go through Whatsapp.
I phoned this morning and the automated system (after going around in circles) found my account, decided that I was still in minimum term and couldn't help me. This is on the 0344 824 4450 number given on their own website regarding the April price rise 😕
I used the Whatsapp link on their website which sent me to the values team, not the retentions or cancellations team but after being transferred finally had success with:-
Sky Signature discounted to £21.50 (currently £28.50 going up to £30.50 in April)
Ultimate TV Pack £5.50 (currently £4.50 going up to £5.50 in April)
Sky HD £5.00 (no change) for a total of £32 a month for 24 months.
I was paying £38 going up to £41 in April, the £32 offer is inclusive so no April increase this year and despite it being a new 24 month contract I can always do the same dance next April now Sky have lost their high court battle. VM broadband to come next in May (if not earlier).

Totally off topic so apologies but why does the forum sometimes mark new posts or threads as read rather than display them as unread in bold?

There's a board where you can provide this feedback, but I've not seen this happen.

Where did you find a whatsapp link, can you provide the link please?
Tried calling the number, got nowhere, "retentions" said theres nothing they can do when I pressed and said ok ill give notice to cancel they said that would incur the early termination fee. I corrected them to say no it wont because of your new T&Cs around the price increase - she went away to find the details and then hung up on me!

(Removed by Forum Team)
That was a number I used in December to get my new recontract deal.
It was a SMS type conversation and not fast and I think was overseas.
