Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

Yep similar. I had agreed £62.50 for pretty much everything as before. Considering I was paying £65 and contract ended in December I just went for it as it was a pretty reasonable offer three months before my contract was due to end. Yep with price rises before the two year term is up I could be paying £70 but better than £140 I thought!! A day after the contract was agreed I noticed it was up to £66.50. They hadn't activated the offer for Sky Sports HD, which was £2, they were charging me £6. Another live chat followed and to be fair he adjusted it and it's been £62.50 since. It always seems to be an HD issue.Mister_Saxon said:
Yeah exact same thing happened to me, offer was at the price I wanted to pay but they removed HD. I called/chatted and made a complaint. The user listened back to the call and then said I wasn't told the HD had been removed so gave me HD for the 24 months of my contract for free. You need to do that.SamDude said:I let Sky TV cancel and called the Winback team.
I thought I had agreed to a reasonable offer, but on checking the order confirmation email (whilst on the call) I saw that the advisor had removed HD and UHD to bring the cost down.
What I thought was agreed for £61 was:
Signature
Ultimate
Netflix premium
Sports (+HD)
Multiscreen
HD (not actually included)
UHD (not actually included)
I immediately questioned this but the advise couldn't change it as the order had been placed.
I was transferred to cancellations/retentions who also couldn't resolve it - they offered to add UHD/HD for £15 but I did not agree to it, so they have escalated it for someone to listed to the call.
My position with them was either honour the agreed service and price, or cancel it immediately.
Has anyone had experience of being 'missold' an offer?
I think a previous contract had the same "computer" problem. The fella added 6 months worth of credit to my account because he couldn't adjust the amount and told me to contact them again in 6 months to add more credit for HD. Of course after 6 months the new advisor had no record of me being told that, thankfully I kept a copy of the chat. That's why I never call as with live chat there is always a way to save the conversation, hence in writing. Eventually it was solved but I think every contract I have taken out over the last few years has ended up with a billing issue, usually with HD, always solved in the end. Bizarrely one bit of luck I did get with my new contract was that an admin fee wasn't even mentioned, so no need to haggle that for a change!
Always have a moan if you aren't happy. I was going to take off TNT Sports when my BT contract ran out but kind of got persuaded by EE when I moved over to take a deal on it. Of course my team is nowhere near Europe these days so no use at all for TNT Sports. I was tryiing to find out how much it would cost to remove it in contract but it was a nightmare trying to contact them. Eventually I put in a complaint. Cut a long story short as an offer to resolve the complaint they agreed to waive the exit costs to take off TNT which saved me a few quid both in monthly fees and exit costs. People call me Victor Meldrew but I always say don't moan in silence. If you aren't happy then complain and once in a while you will receive a pretty good outcome.0 -
Slightly off-topic, but as a new Sky (stream) customer of just 4 weeks, I will not even bother attempting to negotiate with Sky when my contract comes near its end — I honestly wished I'd never moved over to Sky. The 'playlist' programmes disappear at random, blocking viewing access, come back whenever, go off again, and the Sky customer 'service' has got to be THE worst I've experienced in my fairly long-in-the-tooth life.0

Noticed Sky had been switched off first thing in the morning after I had cancelled one month prior. Called the Winback team and was switched back on immediately after agreeing a new 2 year deal. Interestingly I accidentally disconnected the line after the agent answered the phone and they phoned me straight back before I got a chance to re-dial.
Sky Signature £22
Sky Sports including SSHD £10 (£8+£2)
Sky Cinema £10
Multi-screen £7.50 (2 additional mini boxes)
HD/UHD £5
Total £54.50 per month and got them to waive the £10 admin fee. Happy enough with that.
To anyone hesitant about cancelling, just do it - you won't regret it. I was without Sky for about half an hour and it took one quick and easy phone call to agree a new deal. I told them what I wanted and that I had a budget of £50 per month and mentioned I was a long term loyal customer with other cheaper options etc.

What is noticeable about your post and the one immediately above it is the stark contrast between deals offered during the cancellation period, and deals offered when the cancellation has actually happened and services have been cut off, they're worlds apart. (I know these are only two examples, but it seems to be more and more like that as time goes on). It seems Sky have cottoned on to the fact that many people will now request a cancellation hoping to get a deal within the 30 day cancellation period, so those deals are nowhere near as good now - definitely need to wait until services actually go off, THEN get a deal. Well that's how it seems to me anyway.MeteredOut said:As a comparison, we're 2 weeks into the cancellation notice period and have been emailed this offer

Got an offer yesterday ( ~2 weeks into notice period) that I accepted. Signature £19.50 ,full Sports HD £16 and UHD/HD £5 ,keeping Q Box.
Originally was £24.50 for Signature but knocked down by further £5 for 12 months ; all other prices for 24 months , altho there will be rises in April 26 and 27.
I'm happy with knocking £23 pm off the "best" offer when actually giving notice to cancel. I might have done better waiting for the TV to go off but I'm satisfied for the present.0 -
Was this a proactive offer from Sky, or did you go back to them during the notice period?brewerdave said:Got an offer yesterday ( ~2 weeks into notice period) that I accepted. Signature £19.50 ,full Sports HD £16 and UHD/HD £5 ,keeping Q Box.

Is Signature going up to the £24.50 offer for the final 12 months (plus rises)?brewerdave said:Got an offer yesterday ( ~2 weeks into notice period) that I accepted. Signature £19.50 ,full Sports HD £16 and UHD/HD £5 ,keeping Q Box.

Cancelled Sky c. 2 months ago, just called up (India call centre) and accepted the following:
2 years 300 fibre - £21pm
Tv package - £67pm (Signature, SSports, TNT, HD + UHD).
Works for me (appreciate people get a better deal here if they haggle harder). Paid £10 of the £20 change fees waived.0
