So, my contract on Sky TV ended and when I called up, they refused to haggle, so I cancelled (I have until beginning of November when it gets switched off).

I don't have a massive subscription compared to some:
    • Sky Ultimate TV
    • Netflix (upgraded to no ads)
    • Sky Cinema
    • Ad Skipping
    Costs:
    • My contract by the end was £47
    • They want to put it up to £54.89
    • New customers can get it for £42
    • Equivalent with NowTV and Netflix direct is £30.97 (covers the channels I watch most plus Cinema)
Also worth a mention: I have Sky Glass (I got this as I needed a TV at the time, and this worked out the best way for me with finance etc), so I wonder if they think I'm less likely to pull the plug. I am definitely going to do so if I don't get a decent offer (closer to £40, if not less), but would prefer to stay with Sky as the TV is designed for it, and it's a smoother UI.

    >> At what point did others start getting 'please stay' offers?
One reason why I would never get Sky glass is what is the TV like when you don't have Sky TV services?

Buy a new TV and then get Q or Stream is what I would have done

Not much options really as they know you have Glass and think it's stupid to get Stream as Glass does it all .

Just let it go off and wait for any deals but this year Sky seems to be giving out high deals compared to the few years.
There was a bloody good deal at the time with Glass, and I did check that if I ever cancelled the TV was still fine. I was moving across country and upheaving my whole life with a lot of upfront costs. This was a no interest finance (plus the deal on the package at the time), and it worked out best for me with my circumstances at the time.

I've not lost anything, I can still use the TV, I'd just prefer to stick with Sky if they can give a better deal. Otherwise I will use NowTV instead.
Without a subscription the 1st gen Glass (no idea on the new one) is just a dumb TV with an average screen with decent sound. Stick a Firestick or AppleTV box in it if Sky want to play hardball. I presume there's no offers in your account.
I have said this before but are Sky changing the way they place offers to customers or communicate to people.

On my online sky account I have not had any deals and on mysky app it is the same just the normal TV deals that sky offer in newspapers, online or TV adverts.

I have had 3 postal offers since June switch off and they where all the same price.

I used to get "come back to Sky" in 2023 when I last switched off in my account.

Nothing bad about the poster but I have 3 mates that got the 1st gen glass and all got rid of it after sky deal finished and bought new TVs and got Virgin or Sky on Stream.

I paid upfront for Glass back in Oct 2021 but cancelled before it arrived when the independant reviews came in (in hindsight I really should have waited). Glass broke their systems so badly that I still to this day have it sitting as pending delivery in my account. I had to go to the bank in the end for the refund as none of the agents could manage it from their end, even going up to the executive office level. Oddly enough, a short while later Sky refunded me themselves and despite me telling them via email and calls, they couldn't see the two payments of £874 :)

It's actually showing as a £874 credit online, I wonder if I ordered the new one they'd take it off the bill ;)

My Sky Q service is canceled tonight. Have re-contracted with the following deal after about 10 attempts

    £94.50

    Sky signature £25.50
    Multiroom £7.50
    Sky cinema £13.00
    Netflix standard with Adverts £4.50
Sky Complete Sports in HD £14.00
    Full fibre 500 for £30.00

We were quoted £133 and then £113-105 so this has been the best deal and included an upgrade from 150 to 500 Fibre.

Should of let it go off and called them up tomorrow or next day and you could of got that for £15 or more less than what you have got

As others have said over the years you are the one paying for Sky so if you are happy with that price then that's all that matters.

I have seen a few people have issues reinstating after the service has cancelled - so was a little nervios.

I was paying £102 for 150MB fibre, so I have an upgrade and save a bit of money.

Found Sky a nightmare this renewal. The win back team did offer a cheaper TV price, but the broadband they could only offer at £40-43, so I have saved on that,

Mine is switching off tomorrow. Should I wait until the day after to call them or can I do it as soon as it's switched off?

Unless you're going to watch live TV from a Sky channel from just after midnight until it goes off which could be any time during that day I would call the next day.

If the switch off happens early tomorrow and you know what time Sky's CS call centre ends then allow an hour before closing time to get through to them and haggle.

Some people have got through to a CS rep and had to cut it short and ring again the next day.

Sky went off two days ago, no deals forthcoming from Sky, will move to freesat now after 20 years with them. Realised we were only watching the main standard FTA channels so an easy decision and saves another 2 years at £45/month (£1080)

Worth checking any freesat box is compatible with your setup/LNB if not purchased yet. Freesat channels come via the Astra satellite (same as Sky) so the dish shouldn't need moving.
