Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

I ran down my contract which finished on Sunday. Called yesterday and resigned a 24 month deal on my Sky Q box, £23 month for Signature and HD which isn't great but being without the box for TV/downloads/series links isn't a good experience. The guy said, they weren't pushing Sky Q discounts and offered me streaming via a new puck cheaper, but we like the familiarity of Sky Q box. That's us sorted for another 2 years, and we will wait to see how often they raise the price0

How much was it for the signature only ?bruce1966 said:I ran down my contract which finished on Sunday. Every April guaranteed unless I've missed something.bruce1966 said:I ran down my contract which finished on Sunday. You had me hopeful there for a minute as mine ends in October as well. Sadly mine is showing as going up to full price (£58) from £39pm. That's Q Signature at £29.50, Ultimate TV (Netflix with Ads) at £4.50, HD at £4 and Ultra HD at £1.Detail_Merchant said:Not really a haggling success, but maybe of interest anyway. My Sky TV 18 month minimum contract period ends this October.Currently paying £22/month just for signature (on Sky+), made of £40 - £18 discount. I was paying £18.50/month until recently, made of £36.50 - £18 discount. In My Sky under 'Next Predicted bills' earlier this month I could see the bill for October was showing as somewhere between £22 and £40, with only a pro-rata discount. But now it is showing October and November as £22, and the £18 discount has been extended to November 2026.Of course I guess I will see another price rise in April 2026.But at least I will be on a rolling contract, which could be useful as my broadband contract with Virgin Media ends early next year.
The last time I renewed the wife wasn't well and I just didn't have the energy or time to haggle further, although the woman I spoke to seemed surprised I accepted
Roll on September I guess.0 -
The Sky VIP levels are utterly meaningless. It's a marketing gimmick. Nothing more. The levels do not exist other than in name. It just shows a Sky customer services adviser how long you've been a customer but it won't magically open up extra deals that someone on a lower level can't get.Eksmom1973 said:I have just cancelled sky tv. I was with them for 16 years but really wasn't happy with the price they offered me. If the contract does now lapse but I then phone them to restart it do I lose my platinum level does anybody know?
Thank you in advance.1 -

My last contract started at £14, then went up every few months until it got to £22.50 at the end of the 18 months.JSmithy45AD said:

It could be worth checking you predicted bills again in mid-August, as my 18 months ends early October, and it was showing the increase until late July, so if your 18 months ends later in October, and Sky follow the same pattern for you, then it might not change until a bit later,JSmithy45AD said:You had me hopeful there for a minute as mine ends in October as well. Or maybe I was just lucky.1 -
In the past ,Sky have given extensions to deals on some sort of random selection basis HOWEVER they also have form in sending out emails to customers with a message ,"no need to worry" about continuing their discounts EXCEPT THAT the amount of discount is heavily reducedDetail_Merchant said:

Yes, I've had that kind of email before, back in 2023:brewerdave said:In the past ,Sky have given extensions to deals on some sort of random selection basis HOWEVER they also have form in sending out emails to customers with a message ,"no need to worry" about continuing their discounts EXCEPT THAT the amount of discount is heavily reducedWe understand that things are tough right now and we’ve noticed that you have some offers ending soon, so your price would normally go up. But the good news is, we’ve extended your offers for another 12 months and you don’t have to do a thing.
But that time the discount was a bit lower than I previously had. This time no email, but the discount has stayed the same.
So enjoy another great year with us while you continue to save. It’s our way of saying thank you for being with Sky0
