You just need working broadband though, an aerial is only for the Freeview channels pretty much all of which are available online anyway. Freely will eventually replace Freeview & Freesat both.Max68 said:
Fair enough, guess I'm looking at it as someone who doesn't have a working aerial ! ;-)JSmithy45AD said:
Not really comparable though, when I was born there were literally just the 3 channels available and of course not 24 hours a day either. These days there are plenty of free options with multiple channels to choose from plus all of the free catch-up apps, let alone being able to dip into and out of the likes of Disney+Max68 said:Way I look at it these days is that with my £63 subscription that equates at £15.75 a week. In the good old days when Video rental shops existed I would probably rent at least three films a week and now that would be at least £3-5 a film I suspect which on its own would be £9 - £15 a week and obviously cinema tickets are quite expensive themselves these days so all things considered £15.75 a week for a full entertainment package isn't too bad.
No matter how I look at it, it's expensive.1 -
Since i put in my cancellation 3 weeks ago, I keep getting calls from Sky. Ive not been free to speak to them yet.Just wondered what the concensus is about getting the best renew price ? Is it via phone or via the online chat (when you can actually get through on it). If via phone, I recall there seem to be more success with the UK based renew team, but dont know if thats still true ?Thanks.0

If you've actually spoken to them you may be alright but if they can't contact you then they will stop trying sooner rather than later. The phone calls are probably from the UK based winback team.Mr_Benn said:Since i put in my cancellation 3 weeks ago, I keep getting calls from Sky. So have been offered Signature £20 , Sports £20, and Netflix £4.50.They wanted £5 for Signature HD extra. Is it really much difference ? The spots I would say yes, but not sure how much we really watch on Sky TV channels.0

It'll be for 24 months as (generally) that's what Sky are doing now and it will be subject to annual rises (two in this case). That said someone in another thread has been offered a (unknown) discount on a rolling monthly contract so perhaps things are fluid at the moment.MouldyOldDough said:Mr_Benn said:So have been offered Signature £20 , Sports £20, and Netflix £4.50.They wanted £5 for Signature HD extra. Having given notice in May, I let my Sky contract expire end of June. The email offer when I cancelled was £40.50 for 18 months with £10 admin fee. Got a few texts, but no phone calls, then got another email offer this morning £36 for 24 months with £10 admin fee. Rang and spoke to an advisor and agreed an offer of Signature £20, Sky Sports HD £16, Netflix with ads £4.50 = £40.50 per month for 24 months, no admin fee. (Signature HD would have been £5 and ad-free Netflix an extra £6.)

I have currently got UHD on Sports, but because its HDR my Samsung TV just makes the picture darkeranyway, so have to fiddle with tv settings.Ive pretty much told them not to bother with Sky Cinema as dont watch it that often now.0

My contract term lapsed recently. I noticed when my direct debit jumped from £61 to £105. My package is TV only:
Sky Q with Sky Signature, Sky Sports (Complete), Sky Cinema, Netflix (Premium) and Sky HD.
I was paying about £53 at the start of the contract 18 months ago but the inflation increases have pushed that up to £61. Even with discount I thought the value was questionable and the cost pretty steep - at the edge of affordability for me. No way I could afford to pay the undiscounted price.
I called sky to cancel. They offered me a discount for the package that was still +£8 / month more than my previously discounted price. I turned it down and proceeded to cancel everything.
Got a phone call a week later offering me the existing package for £60 /month. Breakdown as follows.
Signature £22.50, Sport £12, Cinema £13, Netflix £8.50, HD £4. (24month contracts are the standard now it seems)
I wanted to benchmark these prices against what others have been getting recently. I'd kind of made up my mind to cancel, so its weird now having to consider not doing so, and I still not really know if this is good value.
Any insight appreciated0 -

Any insight appreciatedIf it helps I was getting the below for £55 pm. Best thy offered pre cancellation was £68. Few days after I cancelled they offered this which I took. Yep more than I paid previously but I was too tired to leave it and leave it and then have to send it all back. Strangely my bills are showing at £7.00 per month at the moment, maybe because my £55 pm contract was till 6th July. I'll have to contact then again because I don't want to be walloped with a £200 bill in a few months when they realise their error!
Sky Signature at £22.50 normally at £36.50 18 months offer
Sky Cinema in HD at £13.00 with Sports
Sky Sports Complete pack in HD at 14.00 normally at £39.00 18 months offer
dependency offer on Sports and Cinema remove any one price may differ
Sky HD at £5.00 normally at £9.00 18 months offer
3rd party services Netflix Standard plan without ads at £8.50 normally at £10.50 with Sky only 2 screen
There's an upfront charge/admin fee of £0.00
you will get Paramount + worth £6.99 and Sky Go for free with Sky
Total £63.00 pm

Thanks. Very helpful. You're using the exact same package as me. So £60 seems like a good deal based on your benchmark. I will have to swallow the 24 months I think. It's not negotiable.Max68 said:BoxingSurfer said:My contract term lapsed recently. I noticed when my direct debit jumped from £61 to £105. My package is TV only:
