Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

It's perfectly simple and sensible - if they offered their best deal to ALL customers, that 'best deal' would have to be much more expensive in order for them to retain current overall profit levels. By making customers jump through hoops to get the best deals, they basically then work on an effort vs reward basis, i.e. customers who make the most effort get the chepest prices. It's a brilliant model for everyone, as it means we can all choose what we want to do:MouldyOldDough said:They currently offer new customers SIGNATURE at just £16 for 18 months - so why can they not offer the same deal for existing customers - this is what I really hate about sky..
- pay the standard price to Sky - no hassle at all
- call them at each contract renewal and take whatever they offer - some discount, minor hassle
- cancel services but take a deal before the cancellation goes through - bit more hassle, bit more discount
- cancel services and let the cancellation actually happen, be without services for a few days / weeks, then take whatever deal is offered - the most hassle, normally the biggest discount
- go to a completely different provider
With all these options that people are free to choose from, everyone just needs to decide what works best for them. You'll get some people on here say "they should give same cheap prices to all people" but that's incredibly naive, it's the same as buying a house, you can paying the asking price (easy but more expensive) or you can negotiate (hopefully cheaper but more hassle), but you can't expect the seller to just offer you upfront their lowest possible price that they'd accept, that doesn't make business sense. And the idea that Sky could just give everyone today's cheapest price is just stupid - as if any private company would trash it's profits like that...

Hi all.
Spoke to winback team yesterday who offered the following:
Sky Signature
Sky Cinema
Sky Multiroom
Sky HD
An additional box
£30.50 per month plus £10 admin fee.
Do you think this is worthwhile? Still deciding whether to go back as was getting sick of the constant adverts on live tv!0 -
Currently in my normal 18 month battle with sky and the best they have offered me so far is these services for £70 pm (not moving at all on the £20 admin fee!)
Signature £20Sky Sports in HD £10
Sky Cinema £12Sky HD £6Sky Kids £3Ultra HD £2Ultimate TV netflix £7,Sky (Q) Multiscreen £10Paramount+

I'm on pretty much the same, minus the Sports. I signed upto £47 p/m for 18months. Obviously the bills will increase in April next year. After the cancellation period, we were disconnected for a few days. I was sent a text with a number to call and was offered the package for £47 and I was asked to pay £10 Admin but I said I would only sign up to continue if they removed the fee. So the CS person credited it.
Unfortunately way things are, you have to be prepared to go the whole hog and to risk losing sky if you want the discount... I would be pretty sure boards such as these are monitored by their marketing/sales people..0 -
Interesting I was told it was against policy to credit the admin fee now, as its goes against the principle of treating customers fairly hahaImranQ said:I'm on pretty much the same, minus the Sports. Spoke to the same lovely woman that I spoke to on Thursday and signed up for 18 months.
Managed to get:
- Sky Signature
- Sky Cinema
- HD
- Multiroom - already have main box and mini box, negotiated an extra mini box free of charge
She managed to remove the £10 admin fee. £30 per month (was £30.50 but she managed to somehow remove the 50p).
Pretty good deal altogether. I was not bothered about staying with Sky so not sure if this managed to sway things a bit.0 -
Great deal! When I called them I was prepared to leave Sky too. You certainly have to act like a 100% emotionless ninja and be prepared to drop Sky and find alternative arrangements which is not too difficult as there are so many other alternatives these days...ppjj29 said:Spoke to the same lovely woman that I spoke to on Thursday and signed up for 18 months.

Yeah exactly. We were going to get Freesat for living room and just use streaming services for kitchen and bedroom, so had no qualms with leaving sky. It's £6 less a month than we were paying before and get an extra box so seemed worth it just to have live tv in the other rooms.ImranQ said:

Maybe they should have a policy not to tell lies as this is not true. My admin fee was credited back to me.antuk said:

Just called the winback team after my contract cancelled on Saturday. My previous deal was;
Signature - 19
Ultimate -6
Sports - 16
Sports HD - 2
HD - 5
Multiroom - 7
Total £55
Straight away offered the same for £49. Job done in 9 mins. I was also offered a free extra mini box but it wasn't needed.
