Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

They don't seem to be budging anymore. I find the sales or retentions people really pushy too, to the point of being quite rude.CheekyMikey said:
I got one call during my notice period from a customer loyalty exec basically just asking me why I’d cancelled and if they could do anything to change my mind. I said they could lower the price significantly but she said the offer I’d had via email which was a few quid off was the best they could do. I said just to let it run out in that case. Normally I’d get a guy from retentions making a 50% off offer for another 18 months it not this time. I suspect your missed call may be similar but good luck if it isn’t. Their whole approach to me, a 20 year customer with decent billing, was poor so unless they beg I’m probably not going back, not until they’re in trouble and really want new customers again.gillw72 said:
I've had a missed call from a Sky number last night so fingers crossed they call again! If not, I'll call them in a week or so.CheekyMikey said:
I had TV and BB and just cancelled my TV…didn’t get any calls like I used to do in my notice period so I let it run out. They sent me the boxes to return the equipment but I’ve had no other contact at all from them. I might call and say I’m cancelling BB too and see if there’s a better deal on offer. Frankly, I’ve not missed it at all. We dug out our old freesat box which works fine for one tv and I’ve a fire stick for the other main tv which gives us iplayer, itvx, apple, Netflix, prime anyway. A mate has given me his Sky password so I can watch the sport on Sky Go from my laptop. It was more convenient having everything on the sky Q box but was it £50 a month more convenient? I’m doubting it…gillw72 said:
That's good to know, thank you.hawkhurst said:
I called them after they sent me a text to give them a ring. One retention guy said that the offers on your account change every Friday, so it's worth trying each week until you get something that you're broadly happy with.gillw72 said:
I've just given notice on my TV contract after over 20 years! I've not given notice on my phone & broadband yet, but may do soon.hawkhurst said:Recently recontracted with them. Lots of back and forths and rejected offers, but this was the best I was able to get 10 days or so before being switched off.
- Sky Signaure (£18)
- Netflix UHD - (£6)
- Sky Sports (£11)
- Cinema (£12)
- Sports HD (£2)
- Sky HD (£6)
- UHD (£3)
Total £58pm
Might have got it cheaper if I had kept trying, but this was the best I has been offered by about £15pm over the course of 2 phone calls and multiple web chats.
During the notice period, did Sky call you or did you have to call them? I'm wondering if I will get a call if I have only cancelled my TV package.
I have a feeling they won't contact me as I have only cancelled the TV contract so far and not the Broadband contract, so I may have to start calling them to see what they can offer.0 -
The days of negotiating a good deal with Sky are over, they just don't care any more. Comcast have really ruined everything Sky stood for.
I walked away a few months ago and still chuckle at their "Come Back offers"! They always offer an inferior package at an elevated cost than I had before!

I can't agree. Last week I was quoted £134 to renew my existing package ( currently £86). After minimal offer and counter offer discussions I accepted a new contract at £84.50 with the added bonus of Netflix thrown in as an extra..... I think I was lucky.Danszagl said:The days of negotiating a good deal with Sky are over, they just don't care any more. Comcast have really ruined everything Sky stood for.

It looks like you've been overpaying to start with, which, when renewing, makes it seem like you've got a good deal.
I've got a spreadsheet going, I'll attempt at giving you a screenshot of my last deal post price rises...0 -
Since this offer I haven't gone back. Enjoying a Sky free life, just need to take the dish down...

Anyone have any luck recently getting the price down? I cant believe i pay £32.50 for Superfast broadband, its not even that fast, can barely get 50 mbps. Vodafone offered me a superfast package for £22 a month. Their Ultra Fast package is cheaper than what i pay now.

I'm currently paying the following and am out of contract, so am on a rolling contract.
Sky Essentials - £31.40
Superfast BB - £39.50
--------------------------------
Total £ 70.90
Sky Mobile 2GB - £7 x 2 Sims.
I am looking to reduce TV & BB first before looking at the Mobiles.
I called them today and spoke to someone overseas who got this down to:
Sky Essentials - £29.00
Superfast BB - £34.50
---------------------------------
Total £ 63.50
I rejected this and after a 9 min hold on the phone was put through to someone in the UK who got me down to:
Sky Essentials - £23.00
Superfast BB - £25.50
-------------------------------------
Total £48.50
PLUS £20 admin.
She insisted the admin fee cannot be waived or credited to the bill, saying its a blanket policy since the last 4 months.
I am holding out on a better deal.
Currently TV is used by parents mainly. Dad watched Gold and normal channels [1-5] and mom watches Asian channels. No Netflix as we have Disney+ and kids just watch youtube.
Does anyone think this is likely to come down a bit?
