Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

Sounds like you're about to be without your Sky service in a week or two.dan0292 said:I put my notice in about 3 weeks ago.You won't be offered any retention deal at this time and it was very unwise to cancel currently if you did this solely in the hope that it would reduce your bill.In other threads on this board posters are complaining the opposite; that they cannot cancel at all!

Cancelled a few weeks back, as I normally do this time of year and awaited the usual phone call, which never came. I've spent the last week trying to get on live chat without success. After 3 days of waiting on text message chat, I got on first thing this morning and agreed the following:
Sky Signature - £15.00 (£15.00 discount)
Kids - £2.00 (£4.00 discount)
HD - £2.00 (£4.00 discount)
Netflix - £6.00
Broadband Superfast - £25.00 (£7.00 discount)
Line rental - £0.00 (£18.99 discount)
£50 per month. No admin fees. 18 month contract.
In the current climate, I'm happy with this and have accepted.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!

Thanks for your reply - I put my cancellation request in as I wasn’t happy with the price at the end of the deal (£150+) and wasn’t happy with the offer they gave me. As with anything like this if I put my cancellation request in then I am more than happy to walk away not have the service at the end, unless I am happy with the price. The hope it isn’t to reduce my bill but to get a deal to keep in line with what I already have pricewise.
I’d like to know on what basis I will not be offered any retention deal at this time? Just by scrolling the last couple of pages of this thread it is clear retention deals are still being offered. Surely it is prime time for sky to be giving good deals when a lot of people are on lower money or losing jobs?

I’d guess they are very short staffed at the moment and retention deals are low on their priority list.dan0292 said:Moneyineptitude said:

It's due to a virus called Covid19, it has resulted in Sky closing down their call centres to all but their "vulnerable" customers.dan0292 said:

Thank youNeil_Jones said:kai666 said:My contract runs out soon, and the monthly amount is going up loads. What number did you contact sky on? The website gives no phone numbers and says not to call.
Thanks

Click on "Yes", then the big "Call us" button which will reveal an 0333 number, or there are some other options on the above screen.0 -
