Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

I don’t even get the option to queue. My cancellation went through on Monday so have nothing at all now. But on the sky.com/mydeal they don’t actually give me a deal just a greyed out option to chat that says busy. It says 7am-11pm on that. Maybe I need to get on at 7am to get through. It’s ridiculous they don’t have a queuing option.Gav501 said:
I spoke to them 2 days running not that I got anywhere 😢JamesN said:Can’t get on to even chat with them, tried loads of time’s over the past few days. Any tips?
live chat starts at 9am everyday.I went on at 9am both days and didn’t get a response till about 13.30pm. My understanding is the sky team bounce between different customers answering questions, so normally it takes about 10-20 minutes to get a reply. So register for the chat and keep checking back every 20 minutes or so. It is painful 😖0 -
I read that they are not taking new orders as engineers cannot do site visits. Also the call centres are shut.
Not sure what that means for existing customers trying to contact them.1 -
On Monday I was unable to get through after one attempt. I tried again at around 2PM and then was connected to an agent by 3:40PM but by then, I had closed the chat.JamesN said:Can’t get on to even chat with them, tried loads of time’s over the past few days. Any tips?
On Tuesday I messaged them at around 10AM and then was connected 40 minutes later.
I tried to cancel my Sky+HD because I had not noticed that Sky Box Sets had increased to £41.50 a few months ago.
Sky was helpful and offered me the following given that Covid-19 had obliterated my income:- Sky Signature= Box sets and Entertainment £15 (£15 discount)
- HD £2 (£4 discount)
- Kids channels £1 (£4 discount)
- Sky Fibre Superfast £20 (£12 discount)
- Line rental free
- Anytime talk £8 (£2 discount)
- Up to £100 credit for any early charges
- All in for 18 months new minimum term £46
Surprisingly, they said they could only offer these prices if I took Broadband with them. Fortunately NOW TV had increased tariff charges which gave me the right to cancel, but I was paying them £21.50 for their basic fibre and anytime call package.
The advisor had also informed me that he could not sell me the boost package as they would have to send an engineer out to me and given the current climate, it's reasonable for them not to do so.
Upon further research, I have found the boost to be not good value. You could link another router to your network to act as a wireless access point and enjoy faster speeds in areas of poor signal.0 -
I keep getting kicked out of Sky chat every half hour. I kept having to log out then back in again. Tried for 5 hours but with no luck. Same today again. To note the hours are now 9am until 3pm. What a pain. Ive cancelled but have been given two dates for termination of service.0

I don’t even get the option to begin a chat. It’s constantly greyed out saying it’s busy. Pretty poor that they don’t have a queue system. What pages are you all going on to get through?0

I cancelled my Sky TV on 15 March so had a "click here to see your exclusive offer" link. I only got talking after putting a message that I'd been waiting for 3 days in a row without anyone contacting me. It was a waste of time as they only offered me Signature plus HD for £20.50 a month (on an 18 month contract) plus £10 admin fee. I was paying £17 for the now defunct entertainment package with HD and box sets. Think I'll look at Plusnet and see what they have to offer.0

How do I find where chat is ? I have a Sky ID but cannot find chat. Contract runs out end of the month so I want a deal. Thanks.0

You may have a long wait - the chat I think is under account management - you may be connected after an hour or so if you are lucky but a lot are saying it disconnects before anything is agreed. I would leave it for now.bobstheboy said:How do I find where chat is ? I have a Sky ID but cannot find chat. Contract runs out end of the month so I want a deal. Thanks.1 -
This is certainly not a good time to try and get a good deal, I'd suggest waiting until the world is more normal.

I am surprised you think now is not a good time to negotiate a good deal. I would have thought that many will be cancelling and Sky would want the certainty of customers staying for 18 months.Zandoni said:This is certainly not a good time to try and get a good deal, I'd suggest waiting until the world is more normal.
