OK a decent offer received from Sky
£45 for everything - that's HD sport, movies/cinema, box sets - the works for 18 months

How does that compare to other offers ?
What will the £45 be increased to - at the next price rise ?
No mention of an admin fee on this either !!

You got a breakdown of those costs?
I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.

No breakdown - just an e-mailed offer !!
    Basically it's free Movies - I believe
  • Just been offered this:

"sure so the best I can do for the tv is change your box sets bundle to our entertainment pack which is £25 per month but I can apply £3 off this for you while adding on the box sets, kids and HD for £5 per month each and applying £4 off each of these this way you will have all the same content as you have now. I will also be able to reduce the cinema to £10 per month with the discounts being for 18 months in an 18 month minimum term with a one off £20 admin fee that gets added to your next bill to help unlock the discounts. This will bring your monthly bills to £60 per month which includes the discount you have at the moment on the fibre (the fibre discount ends on 06/02/20)"

It's not too bad actually, but is still a price increase of £6 per month.

    Thoughts?

They charge £25 for Entertainment if you want it on a rolling monthly contract or £22 (was £20 until very recently) for a 18 month contract so that £3 discount they're so generously offering is pure BS. You're not the first to quote that recently either, it's underhand by Sky.

£20 admin fee (most people are quoted £10) is just price gouging and I would never pay it myself.

Indeed... it just seems like they aren't really offering many better retention deals this time around, going by the posts on this and other online forums.

Their current offer is £6 a month more than I was paying last year (not including the silly admin fee). I am still begrudgingly considering accepting it... (especially since the cancelling and hoping they lure you back with an amazing deal, no longer seems to work)

there are currently 12 million customers in UK and Ireland - and if a new contract is taken out/changed - every 2 years - that's £60 million for doing absolutely nothing more than pressing a button....
Despite what you seem to believe, 12 million Sky customers do not change their contract terms on a regular basis. The overwhelming majority either continue to pay the cost of the rolling contract (which does not "expire" at the end of the minimum term) or simply cancel altogether when it becomes too expensive. Only a very tiny minority, who frequent internet forums such as this one, will actually endeavour to negotiate an annual retention deal.
Sky certainly don't earn anywhere near £60 million in Administration Fees... :)

My bill has just gone up from £33.40 a month to £83.50 :(

Was offered £44 a month for 18 months to stay on my current package (sports, movies, hd and box sets) - how does that sound compared to what others have been offered? Not as good as the £33 I was paying before which was 60% discount but seems reasonable at almost 50% saving.
  • Just been offered £11pm for Entertainment and £17pm for Sky sports with a £10 admin fee on a 12 month deal.

That seems a decent offer, especially on the Entertainment. Was this via Retentions, or Winback?
  • I just called up, my contract expired on Friday. My budget is £23 for both, just waiting to get this before I commit.

Ah OK, sounds like a retention offer then. They seem to be better than the Winback offers at the moment.
