Just been offered this. Does this sound like a decent deal?

I can do this (entertainment package) for £22 down from £25 . 18 month minimum term . £20 admin fee to unlock.

    £1 HD down from £5
    £1 boxsets down from £5
    £1 kids down from £5
    £10 cinema down from £18
    £12 multiscreen
    Remove second one

Total TV cost down from £88.50 to just £47 saving you £41.50 per month on TV so over 18 months £747 .

In term of broadband I have :

    £17.50 fibre down from £20
    £26.99 line rental and talk

Total £44.49 for broadband and talk for 18 months .

Total together £91.49 if you wished to stay with both services would save you £44 per month

That's frankly terrible. If you're agreeing to a new 18 month contract then the full price for Entertainment is £20 so you're already paying £2 more than the full price.

Fibre Max (on my logged in page) is £30 with Line Rental and Sky Talk included with a £19.95 one off payment. Using a different browser (so logged out) new customers have the same deal but with only £9.95 one off payment.

Doesn't look that good TBH. For starters, ANYONE can get Cinema for £10 these days. SKY even advertise it at that, so to say it's come down from £18 is a lie.

Your fibre broadband & line rental offer is a joke too. You should be able to get both for alot less.

I spoke with Sky on Tuesday. Movies is £18 pcm if you don`t have Sports, £10 pcm if you do.

As the Xmas holidays are fast approaching I got them to add Movies, via Chat, and immediately put in my 31 days notice to cancel during the same chat. He also told me if I didn`t have Sports it would have cost £18 pcm and would be on a minimum 12 month contract.

So for 1 month Movies it`ll cost me £10, but will entertain Kids on these cold days!

  • My deal is due to expire end of Jan, which department are you all chatting with to negotiate, i cant seem to find the relevant live chat link on their website. Thanks

The Broadband and talk is still more expensive than new customers pay (just) and more expensive than elsewhere for the same product. Oddly it was the broadband that they were very reluctant to discount for me too. So told them to shove it and got it cheaper elsewhere. Current deal for entertainment is about £15 to 17 if you process the cancellation so you still have a way to go on that. Cinema and the add-ons is standard retention deal so probably wont get better for them (though some people have reported better).

Never looked at multi-room or sky q so cant comment on those. They kept phoning when i was a customer to get me to upgrade to Q. For me it offered nothing more than i was getting but at a massively inflated cost. Why the hell do they think i could possible want to pay for the ability to record 6 things at once when

one of the reasons i cancelled was that i could barely find anything worth watching in the first place.

Ahh, just checked again and Sky have put the price up of Entertainment from £20 to £22 a month if taking the 18 month contract, £25 on a rolling monthly.

The fibre price is okay and if Netflix is something you will use (they're excellent IMO) and you're happy with the rest go for it. You can probably do better but it's down to what price you put on your time really.

Is the Sky Q and 1 box mini free for the install?

I had noticed that Sky had put up their prices on entertainment and the broadband side of things.

The phone costing from Sky is strange as the say it's £25 for line and fibre but you get a discount on line rental which i thought had stopped 1 or 2 years ago to include the full advert price. I think it was an OFCOM thing.

On mine i got reduction on fibre and rental for £22 plus £8 call pack.

As for you canceling the phone side of things you get about 14 days and then you get cut off and lose your line and phone number and you may have to pay a termination/cease fee and if you get reconnected there maybe another fee to pay. I found that out this year when i put in a cancel request and the new supplier could not transfer me as Sky had a stop/cease on the line and i had to call Sky to stop the cancel request but then Sky offered me the above deal so i took that.

    Please see my post, 2201.

The old style chat has been replaced by a system whereby there are long gaps between replies as the Analyst has to deal with multiple customers at once. Took almost an hour for me to get an inaccurate price as it was not for the package I want.

I really would urge you to ring them. I’ll be doing that to conclude my discussions with them.
