Wait until.closer to.contract end? If it runs until 26th jan are you not looking at things too early?

Yes you may well be on the nose with that. When things become "Out of contract" i just want to deal with things immediately. i'll do that, ill wait til early Jan.

I have the basic signature package with Sky Q, was paying £18.50/month when I last recontracted 3 years ago, but it has crept up year by year to £24.50/month this year.
The most recent year was out of contract, but they extended the discount anyway, but that was going to end next month, so the price would have risen to £40+/month.
I gave notice early last month - was offered signature for £28.50/month, then later £26.50/month during the conversation, but that felt too high.
I waited until the Sky Q stopped working yesterday, then called Sky on the number on the cancellation email (also mentioned in the MSE haggle with Sky article) and was offered signature for £22/month - a 24 month contract, so I took that.

Full price of Signature is now a ridiculous £42.40 - I get it at £34.50
Sport is £36 - I pay £31
HD is now £9 - I pay £7
Sport HD is free
Multiscreen is £15 - I pay £15
I have been a Sky VIP customer for 24 years !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
One other thing to mention - despite the fact that I was actually not a Sky TV customer for 24 hours, the MySky app still shows me as a Diamond VIP member of 26 years :-)

I think you have 6 months of not being a sky customer before the VIP is restarted from scratch.
This is what a sky installer told me last December and things could of changed

A few days ago I cancelled my Sky Sub, today had a call and have been offered the below on a 24 month contract and have accepted but may be useful for others.
Sky TV £22.50
HD £4
Multiroom £9Total £35.50

Looking at recent comments it looks like I will get nothing close to my current deal which ends next April.
Currently I pay the following for Sky Q
Signature £10
Ultimate pack £5.50
Sky Sports Complete £20
Sky HD £4
Total £39.50
What can I realistically expect to achieve for the same?

You are in my opinion to close to negotiate any deal.
Price rise are 99% going to happen in April so you should wait until you get notified and then try for a deal or quit.
