  • I have a new 12 month 50% deal starting in January. I have been having problems with signal lately, and just tried online chat to see what they could offer.

It would only cost me the £12 extra to have 2 box's. But I declined because they said my discount only ran for 12 months and the new Sky Q contract was 18 months.

Am I right in thinking Sky would not offer much of discount for the last 6 months that I am out of contract? Or has anyone managed to get any decent offers when in the same position?

They're not obliged to offer anything for the last 6 months so you'd be taking a gamble as they hold all of the cards.
  • I have the following:

Original with Sports HD & Cinema
    Broadband
Old HD box, no multi room etc

    £52.59

Managed to get a renewal at £55.50 with a £20 admin fee. Flipped out about the admin fee and said I wanted to cancel.

Called them today to find out about my final date. They didn’t try to get me back. I had to ask them about any final deals, they said the best they could do was £62.00 with an admin fee. I asked why they wouldn’t honour the original offer and they said ‘deals change all the time’. Went ahead with cancellation.

I get turned off on Boxing Day and the ball’s in their court as I need my festive football :rotfl:

I have been a Sky customer for 16 years and last year, negotiated a deal for HD variety bundle (no movies or sport (apart from Legacy F1)) at £33 - supposedly saving £12 per month

I received a letter - 2 weeks ago - offering me another 12 months at the same rate (£33)
However, looking at my future bills on-line, I see that Sky plan to increase my costs to £36 from February - this I am not happy about....
What figure should I be looking at for HD variety ?
  • For the past 12 months we've paid £9.88 for Entertainment extra, HD and box sets. This was a big discount due to attempted mis-selling last year by a Sky representative so I was expecting a big hike this year.

I chatted on the usual "thinking about leaving Sky" link which took hours as mentioned above (this was OK for me as I was doing other stuff in between).

Was offered Entertainment for £15, Box sets and HD £1 each so £17. Initiated cancellation and had occasional chats to see if there were more offers but every time was offered the above.

It was cancelled as of yesterday so been on chat today but the best they could offer was the same so I have accepted as we need it over Christmas, though I have a new 31 day cooling off period so will try again and see if there's more offers in the new year.

Once cancellation is started, the old style chat is still available and I have used it even before the cancellation date and they've told me "the best deals on the system", it's at

    Good luck everyone!

I left Sky in September after having lots of problems trying to get Sky Q installed in my flat (it never did get sorted).

I previously had Sky Plus HD, but cancelled after getting a bit frustrated with only being able to record/watch 1 show at a time (I only have a single feed coming into my flat).

However with On Demand, I'm thinking this may not be so much of an issue now. I have tried Now TV in the past, but am not a fan of the interface or that it isn't full HD yet.

Sky have offered me the following to come back on Sky+ HD:

    £15 Entertainment
    £1 HD
    £1 Box Sets
    £11 Cinema
    TOTAL - £28 per month

This is on a 12 month contract with a £10 admin fee.

I'm not sure that I'm going to get any better than this. I believe the reason Cinema is £11 instead of £10 is because it is on a 12 month contract, rather than 18 months.

I have had 40% off my sky HD package for the last 12 months (£33) and was offered a 30% discount if I wanted to continue.... (I have been on Sky for 16 years)

So I negotiated an even better deal :
    £22 for Entertainment package + £5 HD - For 18 months

Is that a good deal ?
  • It's less than you're paying but exactly what a brand new customer pays so I'm guessing you've dropped something from the package.

So how much should I be aiming for ?
And no - nothing dropped as far as I can see .....
I believe that my current VARIETY package has been renamed as ENTERTAINMENT package ???
