That will soon change, as I said.
(But seriously, would you buy one of those second-hand boxes-even for a tenner? )
I have a virtually new Sky HD 2Gb box sitting unused upstairs, plus a 12 month old Sky HD box, again sitting unused, since I left Sky almost two years ago.
I'm keeping them just in case I ever go back to them.
But if I ever get Sky Q over the internet, then I might be tempted to sell them - but I'd want more than a tenner for either."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Magic Eyes are low tech nowadays.
Yes option of Sky Q mini boxes....but at additional cost. If we wanted to watch different channels in other rooms we`d already have paid the extra for Sky Multiroom, hence `low tech` magic eyes are perfect.Moneyineptitude wrote: »That won't last forever, you understand?
They are no longer being manufactured, so availability will come increasingly limited in the near future.
I think Sky stopped manufacturing HD boxes over 2 years ago and there is still an abundance of boxes widely available on ebay (and other outlets). I understand these stocks will diminish, but I disagree it will be anytime soon. As these boxes fail they get refurbished and end up back in circulation.
I for one still use the HD box, and have a recently purchased one to sit on standby.
The longer I manage without moving to Q the better for me. I can`t see any advantage of moving to Q. Plus I`m saving a fortune by not purchasing mini boxes for each of the 5 rooms I currently use magic eyes in!

Refurbished boxes do not last forever, nor can they be repaired indefinitely.
(I've still got a Sky+HD set up myself, by the way)0 -
another (similar) offer - from Sky
"I have taken a look at your package for you and I have come up with a new offer for you.
If you were to move to the Sky Entertainment package with the HD package this would be 24.00GBP per month. You would loose the F1 channel with this.
If you wish to keep the F1 channel you would need to then think about taking the Sports package because we have changed the packages and this option to have the F1 included is no longer available.
Do you watch the F1 a lot or is it not really that important?
To reiterate I can give you a Sky service for 24.00GBP per month and the services would be the same except you will lose your Kids TV and the Fl channel. This would be on a new 18 month contract.
If you would like to go ahead with this offer, please read the following statement and confirm you have read them in your response.-
You will not be able to view programmes on your planner which are not in your new TV package.
-
You're happy for your services to start during your cooling off period - you can still cancel in that period but you will be charged for services received up to that point.
-
By accepting this offer, you agree there will be an administration fee of £10 added to your next bill.
-
Prices may increase during your minimum term.
-
This a new 18 month contract"
but still includes the insidious £10 admin fee - why do they think that anyone would pay £10 to re-contract ?

This is the deal I got from ‘retentions’. Prior to this my bill would have been £95.99. Hardly a fantastic deal, so I said I’d rather leave.
So what I can do for you is move you over to our new entertainment bundle I can do this for £22 down from £25 . 18 month minimum term . £20 admin fee to unlock.
£1 HD down from £5
£1 boxsets down from £5
£20 sports down from £28
£2 sports HD down from £6
£12 multiscreen
Keep current fibre offer until 21 Feb 2020 @ £30
Total with current fibre offer £86 per month . this is the best possible offer for this bundle Laurence and offers huge savings and offers more content than any other provider.
On saying I’d like to leave. I got this;
You can keep entertainment and multiscreen which includes euro sports and sky sports news for just £64 per month with your current fibre offer.
Again, I was not happy with this. As this was downgrading my package.
I then got all the scary corporate jargen..
no problem , so I do need to make you aware once the TV is in pending cancellation all offers will be removed you wont be entitled to further offers for 12 months you will need to return sky q and if you do rejoin in the future may be required to pay up to £298 which is the value of your equipment....
Now all I can do is wait for a half decent offer0 -
Just checked my sky account 1 day after cancelling and I have this offer;
Stay with us and enjoy Sky Sports for £22 a month for 12 months.
Nore expensive than what i was offered before.0 -

Interesting - they are trying to con you into staying by telling you that if you rejoin - you may have to pay, almost £300 for a new Q box ?
I think that this is underhand, verging on illegal - They said that Q boxes were loaned free of charge !!
Not that this affects me - I have an HD box - that I understand I own !
I have emailed the CEO and am awaiting a decent offer too !0 -

The best Sport upgrade price that I can find is £23 with £35 cashback through Quidco
https://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sports/
With zero "unlock fee"
These extra fees - when did they start ?
And what do we get for the £20 ?
someone pressing a button ....0 -
The £20 admin feelocks in the price- they make it sound like they are doing you a favour. I always like a price increase halfway through my contract as it gives me more power in terms of leaving.
Overall, not happy with what they have offered. It doesnt sound like these are the best deals out there at all.0 -
Also, they are comparing the ‘deal’ price to the ‘normal- no offer price’ - who even pays the ‘normal’ price? Anyone? Surely everyone gets a bit knocked off when they first join.0
