Hi, on the 29th of March I parked outside a restaurant I believed that after 6pm it was free as the signs are not very clear, however after I left I found a parking charge notice from Excel but the number plate on the notice had an incorrect digit, I was told by loads of people to ignore it as it is an invoice but as the number plate on the ticket is incorrect they couldn't do anything.

I received 3 days ago a letter from BW legal to advise the charge is now £154 and are giving me 16 days to pay and today I receive a letter from DCBL debt collector charging me £160.

I contacted BW legal who has requested from me to send the copy of the ticket showing the incorrect number plate, but why have excel passed this to 2 different companies? Should I contact DCBL too? On he letter I received from DCBL it does not give any date and time of the "offence" is this legal? Should I ignore it? Thank you for any advise

best to read the sticky threads, especially the newbies thread, especially post #4

search the forum using the search box and BW LEGAL and DCBL as well, reading the recent replies carefully

its an LBC or an MCOL you should not ignore (the PPC Excel have 6 years to try a court claim)

please start a new thread of your own if you need further advice, as its one thread per person per topic on here (no hijacking)

its an invoice, nothing more, so legality does not come into it, anyone can send you an invoice for anything, its not regulated

they can give it to as many debt collectors as they like , there is no regulatory limit

You are at debt collector stage (NOT bailiff stage), so read the newbies FAQ sticky, post #4 for info on how to deal with debt collectors.

If you get a LBCCC or MCOL (see acronyms in the sticky - post #2) come back, but please start a new thread of your own - one case, one thread or it all can become (expensively) confusing for any number of random posters joining in with their own cases.

No need for a new thread unless you get LBCCC or MCOL.
