Men and women cannot be just friends as one of them will want to sleep with the other. They may never actually do the deed, but one of both of them will always be thinking about it

Agree with Pollycat here I am afraid but in light of the OP's posts on this thread I dare say that will probably happen unless this is all a fictional tale.

Both my partner and I have friends of the opposite sex and we both know all of them, This never creates an issue for us but if either said that they fancy a friend it may cause a dilemma to say the least, I know that one of my female friends would not say know given the chance as she said this to my OH of which I have dismissed and would not allow to happen, It is basically about self control and trust Something I believe the OP lacks in abundance.

I agree with Pollycat. It's utter nonsense. I feel sorry for someone who thinks about bedding every person of the opposite sex that they are friends with - or acquainted with. It's a bit pathetic actually if that's all you have on your mind.

I hate my husband being around when I have friends over because that is my time with my friend, it isn't quality time. Nothing to do with him being male.

Wow. What a dreadful way to treat your husband.

Are you very young by the way? I am guessing very early 20s?

I don't know any older people who don't want their partner around when they are with their friends. It sounds awfully childish and petty. It's basically 12 year old girl behaviour.

One of my best friends is a man. Even if he has ever thought of sleeping with me it's not actually affected our friendship in any way.

I'm curious though, being bisexual and currently in a relationship with a woman does this also mean I can't be friends with other women or can I not be friends with lesbians?

I have Male and Female friends alike, both straight and gay. Never had an issue as friends is friends. OH likewise has both male\female friends, we never feel jealous or put off by either of our friends on whether they are single or not.

I am sure I have friends whom OH would not get on with and vice versa, but even that is not so much of an issue.

Obviously you've thought about sleeping with any females you're friends with regardless of their sexuality

I agree, its just ridiculous to suggest that you think about sex with every person you meet of the relevant sex!

Why would she, it makes no sense at all.

I have had some long term friendships with gay men, but can you have them with straight men?

I answered whether you can have them with straight men.

You can also have a friendship with someone you're attracted too. Chances are, it will eventually pass if you don't want to act on it.
