Lost my post.
:j:j:j Mr and Mrs Builder came with my estimate :j:j:j
More than I would have liked but still very reasonable (about a third of my savings so could still manage for a year or two in an emergency situation, bearing mind the surgery I need at some point will mean 8 weeks recovery time).
:j:j:j Mr and Mrs Builder are starting work on the 23rd :j:j:j
Now have a deadline and need to declutter urgently. Aiming for a wheelie bin worth a day (volume wise - I am not going to put a lot in the bin).
DS3 will go to his gf during the work so that is one wheelie bin's worth out of the way.
Was going to ask DS1 to bring a tent and put it up in the back yard to safely store my wood/ melamine stash (no shed) but now thinking I can rig something up using my plastic raised bed as a base and the garden table (6' x4' metal frame, glass top) as a top, maybe with plastic tarpaulin sides.
This is a big chunk of the problem as I currently have three stacks in my kitchen - was looking round this morning trying to work out why I was having problems sorting it - and two stacks in the front room (behind the sofa, under the window and at the side of the sofa in front of the electric meter). two of the stacks in the kitchen were in here before DS3's friends visited. Also hoping Mr Builder can use some of the big bits to get round the attic and leave them up there screwed to the joists.
What made me happy - my estimate and knowing work is going to start (was feeling hemmed in this morning due to no electric/ light in my bedroom and DS3 sleeping down here). Thinking about my new bathroom walls (going for the white with little silver twinkles all over - will be about £800 but telling myself tiles would be more and the acrylic sheets are much lower maintenance than tiles and grout).
Kind deed - Poor shop assistant read the wrong amount out for my shopping and got very embarrassed about it, so I made light of it.
Frugal tip - always check quantities against cost. Wash (gel things for a change) were priced at £7 and £10 but the larger pack was on 1/2 price offer at £5. Told the assistant when I got to the till as I have seen other customers with offers that didn't scan.

Just a quick check in from me tonight. I've spent the whole day doing school and exam stuff so it's gone by in a bit of a blur.
Clippy - congratulations on the promotion :j
Yes, I mark for an exam board as well. Two actually. I'm an examiner for one and a team leader for another. Like I say, my life disappears into nothing for a couple of months of the year but it's worth it...
Today's happiness - getting my head round the marking system for the new exam board.
Kindness - giving dh chocolate because I could tell he was down
Frugality - emergency birthday card and present from the stash I keep in that I buy on the cheap or in the sales.
Compliment. To my tutee who I think will get the grade C he is so desperately wanting. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

ccl maybe you'll be my team leader!!! I'm marking two different scripts for the same exam board this year, I tried a new exam board last year but they were a bit chaotic with their organisation.

Can't believe the weekend is nearly over.
Clippy_girl wow great news.
Bob hard going when little ones are poorly, good luck with some sleep tonight.
Today just cleaned all morning, painted dressing table and got carried away painted some tubs outside. After fighting getting old plants out.
Little walk, daughter popped over and brought me a small barrel (one of her old photography props) that I had said I had wanted? Really not sure I did, heavy, felt bad as she had carried here in her delicate condition so I tried to look excited. Not sure what the eck I shall do with it, can't see it surviving in garden, might use it in my porch somehow.
Mothernerd nice to be getting work done around the house.
Nothing exciting to report water rates bill come now saving £1 a month gone down to £25 was about 60 without a meter when I moved in. Have loads of baths and forever watering gardens.

Morning everyone.
Sorry I've not been on in a while. I've been super busy, which unfortunately means spend tooI'll make up for it with 5 NSD's this week!!!
Made me happy?
I played a round of golf in glorious Scottish sunshine yesterday. Was so relaxed and lots of fun. Loved it.
One thing I done for someone else?
The above round of golf also fell on my friends birthday, so I hired him a buggy for the round which he loved.
Frugal tip?
I would rarely pay to wash my car, inside or out. Use your own hoover for inside, even with some febreeze or an air freshener. You could even simply use hot water to clean the outside if you had to.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Hello, wow super busy here and I've been missing so much. Really need to do sth about my phone as I can't log onto the new site on it, which won't be good when I run the thread next month.
Anbywho0, finally got my PIN and set up my online banking with my new bank today. However, they take 2 days!!! to make my little additional online accounts/pots appear online that I set up for holidays, emergency, car etc. So can't really play around with them yet.
Will maybe look into getting a new phone today. Something cheap and cheerful but with modern software
We were at FIL's over the weekend and I even got a sunburn in sunny Glasgow! Did a biggish shop yesterday in LIDL and will need to pop to Tescimo tomorrow to get cat litter and wipes that we prefer from there. So not doing well on the SFD front.
EDIT: being in between banks I tried to keep track of my monies via excel. But somehow after divvying the money up into my different pots in my new bank I was £212 short. Panicked, thought I spend it somewhere and couldn't remember, even just groceries or sth. Till I remembered husband borrowed 200 quid and I guess I forgot to log one little top up shop. Phew, so my numbers actually still look quite good for this month.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250
