Thanks so much Cat. I loved the frugal tips element of the challenge so much. No one deserves a lovely break more than you. See you in June" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Thank you for the lovely challenge ccl.
I have done the anti damp paint today and now know why I have been putting it off. The paint runs but is also really heavy and draggy when you try to spread it out. Destroyed two small rollers (only cheap ones) and a brush. Took 7 attempts (soap and water with nail brush and white spirit) to get it off me.
Happy to have that bit done. Very happy (maybe also frugal tip) that I bought a 95p shower cap so I didn't get it on my hair (think I would be having to cut lumps of it out by now).
Frugal tip - using what I have. One lot of white spirit is so old it's going yellow (think it's what I bought when painting before DS2 started renting this house from me - about 5 years ago). I have discovered half a large tin of gloss, will be giving it a good stir and think it will be good to go. Went back and bought 2 more cans of the emulsion paint whilst it is still on offer at £11 (normally £16.40).
I am using various shades of 'not quite white'. When the boys were small and money was very tight I had everything white - one pot of gloss and a bucket of white emulsion - just worked my way through the house touching up. The big bedroom I am doing now (largest bedroom plus all the former landing space) was first done in white walls, an ultra matt navy ceiling (hid all the flaws including my first attempt at filling in the ceiling where the wall had been taken out) and a silver border with bright coloured dots on it - included all the accent colours they each had in their own corners. DS2 had some very well off friends but we had the only bedroom that was big enough to play knee rugby in.
Edit - I also put stars on the navy ceilingMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Thank you for a fab challenge ccl
Finally got started on the marking at 11 and have managed 7 hours with a few breaks when my brain started to feel fuzzy. Got a busy week with lots of things to get done and people to see so marking will have to fit in between all that. Also agreed to a tutoring session this week so that'll help finance this week.

Well payday today and sorted out my numbers. Paid my debt, looking fwd to June when I will get under 50%. Will hopefully get the £100 from the bank switch this month too so I'll have a healthy amount in the saving for the front door of the garden. Back from camping early, as massive winds and thunderstorms were headed for the campsite, so they finished the event early so people could pack up and leave before the storms arrived. But at 9pm last night, neither dd nor I were fit for a 3+ hour journey back, so threw caution to the wind and paid an  amount to stay in the local premier inn place. I confess to also spend about £80 when camping too, as we got sooo cold that we needed extra clothes and blankets!
All that not spending earlier this month had a purpose!
Bob - I would suggest you save up for a little break, then once you have saved that, throw the rest at the debt. I was ready to send all my 'spare' money to the mortgage this month, but was waiting until the very end of the month to do so. Phew! It meant I could get what we very much needed.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Only managed 13 NSD's this month.
I did my budget for May and made sure all debts and general savings (car repair/medical etc) were covered but did not pay more than the minimum to debt which is just as well as had a spendy month with the girls weekend.
I did go to the party in the end and had a great time - hardly anything spent as I was driving, DH had some drink but was in a social club so cheap.
I think there was 2 days when I brought lunch
I didn't donate more than the charity lottery I do but do give me time for charity and also do a monthly fundraiser.
I got my payout on YouGov so that was £50. Plus I managed to redeem a £10 Amazon voucher from a survey site and also found an email where they had emailed with another code which was a separate incentive so I make that £70 for May.
Thanks again CCL for running the thread and also Well Done to everyone that joined in this month. See you over on the June thread!!
