Help!cats using my garden as a loo (merged threads)

My elderly ex-next door neighbour used to sprinkle pepper liberally on her garden to stop the cats. I don't know if it worked though?!0

After ten years of this problem, I have finally found my solution!
I purchased a 'garden pest repeller' from Amazon last week for around £10, and I havent seen any cat poo since!0 -
Hello,
Sorry if it has been mentioned already, but we managed to stop cats going to the toilet on our lawn by mowing the grass short. It would seem that cats around here do not like going to the toilet on short grass! Maybe worth a try.
....now we just need a deterrent for our raised vegetable beds!0 -
Unsure if I'm at the right place - apologies if not...:o
My 2 year old son loves to play outside in the garden, but I'm at my wit's end as my neighbour's 2 cats insist on using my garden as thier toilet
Any ideas how I can keep them away for good?
Thanks in advance :beer:0 -
Get a dog? Electric fence? Apparently lion manure also deters cats quite effectively: even though most domestic cats have never met a lion, they instinctively recognise the smell of a large predator.
Not so sure about more practical solutions. I've seen ads for sort of 2-D statues of angry cats which are supposed to discourage real cats but I've no idea if they have any effect. Sprays or other smelly repellents aren't a great deal of use for large outdoor areas. If you catch the cats in your garden, you could try squirting them with a water pistol.
P.S. There's a Pets sub-board under MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families0 -
Lion poo
It's very expensive though.

And it may not work:

Quite liked the electric fence idea, not sure it'd be too child friendly though!!
I've actually got 2 dogs and have separated the garden in half to ensure that any mess they make is confined & out of Charlie's reach - they have thier garden & we have ours. But these flippin cats have taken a liking to our side for obvious reasons...am pretty tempted to take a bag of dog poops & scatter it over neighbour's garden to see how they like it....
Think I'll try Lion Poo first though!!!
Thanks for your replies & the info on the Pet Board :beer:0 -
