I've seen a few postings on here with people wondering about how to get cats out of teh garden etc.
well, last Saturday (maybe a bit late now) but there was an advertisement in the Dail Express for a readers offer of "Coleus Canina", The "pee-off plant" which is supposed to distract cats from the garden.
There is a phone number of 08715211660 - Daily Express Offer - EX170508
You can get 5 for £7.95 + P&P or 15 for £17.95.
The Daily Express, eh? The same paper that says there's no housing crash. Must be true then!:rotfl:
£7.95 for 5 annuals looks like a bargain, money-saving offer all right. Thompson & Morgan behind it by any chance?
Sorry to be facetious, but have you any idea whether these plants work? If not, why are you giving free advertising to these organisations?
On the other hand, if there is someone out there who does know that these are effective, please post

As in - how can I discourage the local cats from frequenting my courtyard garden (aka backyard). They obviously like using a bit of wooden trellis I have there as a scratching post and generally making themselves at home.
I dont want them continuing to think I'm doing this gardening bit for their benefit - "ooh look - lovely human - just right for my scratching post here and a nice bit of earth in those pots there for me to use as a loo".
What methods do you use? - of the "natural" variety - being as how I'm "organic" in my ways (I have a vague idea there's one of the essential oils they dont like for instance?)
Don't want them ruining my food-growing attempts.0 -
I keep a water pistol outside my backdoor and give them a quick squirt, they dont come in as much now!! (was fed up of them using my grass as a toilet!)
I know cats dont like citrus smells, so that is something else you could try - maybe those citronelle (sp) candles or peelings?0 -
You can try your lion poo, or pepper dust, or water pistol....... nothing really works, only a barrier of wire for example,Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I bought some of these from an ebay seller but unfortunately they were eaten by slugs within days of planting! :mad:0 -

Davesnave,
Father in law cut it out and gave me the advertisement. Haven't got a clue if they work or not as I've just ordered them myself so I will see. Noticed another posting saying that slugs ate theirs. I'm hoping they work as I hate having to look around before the kids can go out and play in the back.2012 Mortgage Free Wannabe # 69Opening mortgage £126,000 19/05/00Ended 2011 £31,019:j£0.00 07/12/2012 :jNever put socks in a toaster.0 -
