I haven't insured it because its not drivable lol. Its been sitting on the drive since ive had it. So don't worry it will be insured I do things by the book. :)

So, you took out insurance only to cancel it when the car broke down?

Sorry to disappoint, my broker checked for me :)

If you say so, does anyone find that odd? Getting your insurance broker to check the insurance status of a car subject to a forum thread.

Tut tut, someone hasn't been very truthful on the ASKMID terms ay

Seeing as ASKMID themselves aren't being very truthful, I don't see anything wrong in using their website for checks such as the one carried out by jimjames.

The information provided by the website does not fall under the requirements of section 55 of the act. This section specifically covers personal data (data from which a living individual can be identified), and no one on this site can ID anyone simply from a car registration number or by knowing if it is insured or not.

The reason people have queried things is that your story isn't straight.

First of all you said you were driving the car for a month and broke down outside a family members house. Now you claim it's been on your drive the whole time and never insured.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

In general if a car develops a fault that is bought from a dealer after a month or so, doesn't the dealer normally have to sort it out?

I'm interested in the answer as I'm looking to buy a car and it will most probably be from a small trader from the looks of what I have seen from Autotrader.
