Hey. Well I know that i can get a bosh replacement for £107 - then the labour ontop is like £200 or something. £300/£600 - it doesnt matter. Its the princple isnt it? They sold me a dead horse, then said in other words "they dont care" its my problem!

Mercedes wanted £395 for the labour...

I really hope this post sits under their website for years to come. HEATHROW GENERAL CARS LTD! STAY CLEAR!!!! they even treat a young mother with a baby of 1 this way.... utterly disgusting which ever way you look at it!!

That letter was sent on the 29th of december. Hey are you with them or me? lol

You wouldnt be !!!!ed if you bought a car from a trader and they !!!!ed you over?! come on...
  • Quick look at the MOT history shows it's clearly been 'loved' in the past...

Pretty sure that what you've encountered is the problem with buying a Merc at the cheaper end of the market. Still has Merc running costs.

If you want to get anywhere, you need to take all the emotion out of the situation and deal with it rationally. No more emails littered with exclamation marks and 'think of the children'. A simple factual, rational, letter to start with.

If you eventually take this matter to court, you will be expected to have kept your losses to a minimum.

For this reason, I would be forgetting all about a £250 starter motor and a fitting cost of £395. You will never get that awarded by a court.

Mitigate your losses by getting a £83.54 starter and getting it fitted at your local independent garage for significantly less than £200.

    a starter motor is £83 http://www.expressfactors.com/Lighting-Electrical/Starter-Motors/Mercedes%20Benz/C%20Class/C160/1.8/2005/Parts.aspx

NOBODY uses a mersades garage for a £2700 used car , if merc have quoted £395 then the going rate at a local garage without a glass showroom will be about £80

why not pick up your landline and look thru yellow pages for local NON FRANCHISED garages , or phone a friend!

It might be even easier to type "auto electrician " into yellow pages , as they could probably fix/repair the unit and replace in one go.

PS: where were you going to take the car for its next service? get a quote from merc , then one from a local garage , you will find the difference pays for this starter repair!

Well as you're intent on going to court you'll need to stick to facts and pay attention to detail.

    This might help you.

    Erm, yeah. It kinda does.

Here's a tip. Don't take it to Mercedes.

Thanks Guys! I really do appericate it. No i wont take it to mercedes. I just cant believe ive been shafted. And that they wont even pay to get it fixed. I bought it 26th november. had it weeks, now its on the drive. I feel sick. I came on here to make sure everyone is warned about them, and hope in some way they will lose so much business over this from seeing this blog on them. They should have just fixed it - but now they are being taken to court and everyone knows why! ;)

What did I say about facts?

I'll tell you now that Slater and Gordon will write to them at least twice giving them chance to fix the car before any court proceedings are started.
