It seems some people are missing the point here, stick to the point. The car is broken. No matter what. So they should fix it. isnt that the case here? Whos actually in the wrong? I bought the car, its gone wrong. so its my responsibilty to fix it?0

All of the electrics work on the car. so when you turn it on the head lights come on etc. But to get it started you have to push it down the road...rolling start... I might as well cut a whole in the floor like the flintstones did.....0

You have previously stated that you were happy to accept the car knowing that the battery warning light (charge indicator) on the dashboard was illuminated.
If the fault that now exists is in any way related to that (and that can be substantiated with something probative) then the seller could claim that you were aware of the fault and happy to accept the car on that basis, which would undermine any case you may have...0 -

The seller may well have a legal (and indeed moral) obligation to fix the car, but to be honest if I were them, with the attitude you've displayed so far I'd be tempted to 'go bust' and do a runner.0 -

Well I'd still get your second opinion and a full check over as there is a documented history with the electrics on your car.0 -
I find it quite frankly shocking that you took delivery of a vehicle that had a warning light showing. I would have turned heels and left at that point, unless I saw a report from an independent garage giving the all clear at a later date, before delivery. I would not accept delivery until it was sorted and would not accept a promise to get it sorted.
I suspect you feel a little foolish now for accepting a vehicle with a warning light, and part of your rage is against yourself (even if you are not yet aware of it).
If you can't be calm, then you will end up having to use the services of a solicitor which would likely negate the point of legal action at all, with the risks that this entails.
You need to calmly set out what the problems are, set out what you want as a result and give the other side a reasonable period of time to sort it out.
As has happened with a case on here (though that was a private sale so a County Court Judge may see it differently) you may have to go down the road of getting diagnostics done on the car and have the car fixed to the state that it was represented to you by the garage.
Getting emotional and shouting and screaming and spreading what could be construed as libel could actually weaken your case. You need to appear to be reasonable, otherwise the other side could say that they tried to sort it out, but found you unreasonable to deal with. All the ranting on here is evidence they could call upon as something representing your attitude.
Remember this isn't the criminal court. It will be decided on the basis of probability. It will come down to credibility and who can give the most credible version of events.
Keep calm and focussed and be rational.
Also remember anything you say on the internet stays on the internet even if you delete all your posts.
Above all, be the reasonable person that has been wronged, and things will usually go the right way. Be unreasonable and ranty, and you create doubt in your credibility, and at County Court level, that is crucial.0 -
yea i reckon they will go bust and do a runner. That sounds about right. Well said.0
