I am writing to everyone today to warn of a cowboy car trade company called "Heathrow General Cars Ltd".

(Text removed by MSE Forum Team)

The company was formed in June 2014 by (text removed by MSE Forum Team). I wanted to take the time to warn people against buying from this car trade company. As they have sold me a car for £3000 that is now broken (starter motor) within one month of me driving it away. I am a young mother with a one year old son and i have expressed to them that I needed the car fixed. They refused to fix the car. I now have to pay another £600 out of my own pocket to fix the car. I have contacted trading standards and i have also informed autotrader about the company that is advertising on their website. They are also taking this very seriously.

I will be taking the car company to court. I am absolutely gutted that a car trader thinks he is able to get away with this so i am going to make sure that i create as much noise on the internet as possible, so that these blogs sit under his website. The car that cost me £3000 is now sitting on the drive until i find the money to get it fixed. Ontop of the broken starter motor, "Heathrow general cars" didnt even supply me with locking nuts for the car, we agreed verbally about me buying the locking nuts and they would pay me. I bought them. NO money came to me. It was only £32.50, its not the money its the principle.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE COWBOYS. I have never ever seen such bad customer services in all my life. Let alone been taken by daylight robbery. If someone from HEATHROW GENERAL CARS LTD decides to try to make themselfs look better by replying to this blog do not believe anything they say. I wouldnt spend the time writing this message if I wasnt being honest. I can be nothing but honest. I dont want anyone else to lose money!!!

  • Did you inspect it before driving away? Was it sold "as seen"? What was said about future failures at point of sale?

Without these details we cannot tell if your complaint is valid.

Dealers cannot put terms such as "sold as seen" when selling to the public.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers what the op needs to know.

this is the 3rd posting in 3 different forums made by a new poster , I have asked politely what the car is , as I feel that a local repair to a starter motor on an older vehicle should be a lot lower than £600 , however the OP has not bothered replying , and just continues to copy/paste to more forums

As far as i am aware I am covered by the consumer rights act. They told me that there was nothing wrong with the car. There was a light on on the dash but he told me its either the battery or the alternator. He promised me that it wouldnt be an issue. Now the AA tell me its the started motor!! Under the consumer rights act I think that i am covered becuause the goods sold were not a satisfactory standard. I have spoken to Trading standards. I have also spoken to autotrader whom are taking this really seriously. I have been without a car for about 4 weeks and i have a new born. I just really cant believe Heathrow general cars turned out to be cowboys. I am going to take them to court. Its the princple of selling someone a dead horse and then taking the money.... Im also going to make sure the world and their dog knows that they are cowboys.... disgusting.... really is...

Here is the email we sent heathrow general cars ltd. we were told to send this email by trading standards. They havent replied to anything. They dont care.

I am writing to you today to express my concerns about your company and the customer service you have given us. I have now logged a complaint with trading standards/ Citizens advice.

On the 26th of november 2015 we bought a mercedes from you for £2700. We spoke on the phone regarding the light that was on the dash and you explained that this could be the alternator. I was happy to take the car on the “trust” that you had explained that this would be the problem.
After taking the car away we drove over a nail and when we went to get the tyre removed from another garage locally they told us you DID NOT give us the locking nut for the wheel. On the 8th of December we sent you an email after agreeing on the phone with your “sales guy” that we would pay the £32.50 to get the locking nut and you would transfer the money, this never happened.

On the 15th of december my girlfriend took our young baby around to her fathers house parked the car outside upon returning to the car she found it would not start. Being a young mother this was a huge problem as the baby has appointments. We have called the AA to take a look at the car and they have told us that it is the STARTER MOTOR. A new starter motor for one of these cars is £200 - £250. This is completely unacceptable for a car to go wrong at such an early stage (we have had it just over a MONTH!) and after phone calls to your office we have been fobbed off constantly. We have now contacted all the above corporate bodies and they have filed the complaint.

    Consumer rights act 2015
Trading standards will be intouch with you very shortly unless this is taken care of.

We are covered under the consumer rights act 2015. We are covered up to 6 months of any goods bought that are not to a satisfactory standard. The starter motor of this car should not be broken after having the car for just over a month!! If you wish to download the consumer rights act papers just go to goverment website and find it.

We are now without a working car which we bought from you. It is sitting on the drive and we are not able to move it. To get the car to your site will cost for the transportation, we will NOT pay for this cost.

    There are two options here

    1. You transfer £250 plus the £32.50 (owed from the locking nut wheel) and we will get the AA back out to fix it

    2. You pay for the transportation to pick up the car and fix it yourself. This option is very long winded and will cost you more money, but its your choice.

Should you ignore this logged letter i will have no option to get the police involved. I am furious that after at least 3 phone calls to your firm asking politely and expressing urgency as we have a baby that needs to get around, you have still not responded, i even left my personal home number for you to call back.

This isnt going to go away and will only unfold into a legal mess for you. Please advise immediately what you are going to do so that we can the relevant steps moving forward. Our next call will be with our lawyers Slater and Gordon.

I eagerly await your prompt repsonce. THANK YOU!

first google search shows ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, http://www.expressfactors.com/Lighting-Electrical/Starter-Motors/Mercedes%20Benz/C%20Class/C160/1.8/2005/Parts.aspx

now then , how much for labour?

where are you getting your quotes from , Mercedes in mayfair?

I see , the starter is £250 , but you are talking about labour , then why are you only asking the garage to pay the cost of thec starter motor? , are you going to pay that yourself?

why complain and winge on here before sending that letter , get it sent and add something like FORMAL NOTICE to it , THEN after some time get a CC order , do it instead of winging!

PS: this is a civil matter , the police will not get involved , don,t bother with that threat

So the car cost £2700 and not £3000. If the starter motor cost £600 why are you only asking for £250. Nothing like keeping your story straight.

You need to be less ranty in your correspondence if you wish to get results. Generally you will get better results when you give them the opportunity to resolve it between you (not saying you haven't.

Don't waste your or the police's time by involving the police. This is a civil matter, unless Trading Standards decide otherwise, and they will involve the police if necessary.

    Good Luck.
