2nd - Not sure how to do this
Do you have extension sockets? What is your router connected to?
If you don't know how you will have to pay someone who does know how I'm afraid.
if you contact Sky and they investigate by sending out an engineer you will be charged if it's your own wiring.
However if it's external they may be able to fix it but it depends on what's causing it. Check your SNR at different times of day and note down what it's at. Does it vary a lot?0 -
Don't have any extension sockets. I'm pretty sure router is connected to master.

Say I want to upgrade to Fibre optic, what's the procedure, do I get a new router or does an engineer come out?
Neither would happen as it's self-install and your current router will probably do. What router do you have?
However your problem will not necessarily disappear by upgrading to fibre so you need to get that fixed first. It's likely the same issues will be there.
If you only have a Master socket and no extension sockets then get onto Sky. However they will ask you to plug your outer into the test socket before they will do anything else.

2MB is approximately 17 Mb.0

Excuse me??
Technically B=byte and b=bit
1 byte = 8 bits
1MB (megabyte) is 8 Mb (megabits)
......... And so on.
ISPs give estimates in Mbps (megabits per second)
You are measuring speed wise 2Mbps (2 megabits per second) and not 2 MBps (megabytes)
The downstream on the router is connected at 2560kbps which is 2.5Mbps
Call sky, do what needs to be done with them in terms of checks and things. If they have to send an engineer out, even if the problem is in your home, you don't get charged for it. Sky now absorb the cost. If the speed is within the estimate though there is not a lot than can be done.
If you log into Sky.com and go to "check my broadband" from the Mysky drop down, it will tell you what your estimated line speed is. If the minimum is more than the 2.5 you are getting then there may be something they can do.0
