Also, even though living a short distance away and taking the same broadband type (ie ADSL), a neighbour could be on a different cable route, with different traffic.

2MB is your estimate of speed. Post#4 gives you a link to finding the stats, which people have asked you to post.

The stats will tell us your SNR, your sync speed ( ie what the router is actually connected at rather than a WiFi speed ), and your line attenuation ( which will tell us how far you are from the exchange and what speed is possible ).

All of this will help us to see whether the problem is that you are simply too far from the exchange or whether you have a noise problem causing lower speeds or indeed if the problem lies with your internal wiring.

So if you want some real help then post the stats that you've been asked for.

The YouTube video actually tells you why it's important - did you bother to look?

Ok with a 31.5db attenuation you should be able to get a speed of around 14mb.

Your SNR ( Noise Margin ) of 14.8db down and 10.5db up indicates you have a problem on your line that's causing the issue. Mine for example is 4db and 6.6db.

Now that issue may lie externally or internally so you need to narrow down which before contacting Sky.

First of all - do you have any noise on calls? If you don't use the landline you will need to get a corded handset and test it. Dial 17070 and Zoe can do a noise test for you.

Second - what is your router connected to? Is it a Master socket with a split faceplate or is it an extension socket? Either way you need to remove the lower faceplate of the Master socket and plug your router directly into the test socket behind it. This will eliminate any problems with your internal wiring. What happens now?

Basically Sky's DLM software has limited your speed to increase stability on your line. Have you been having frequent disconnections?

Your WAN - ie the router connected to Sky - has only been up for just over 16 hours. Do you keep it on 24 hours a day or are you switching it off a lot?
