Getting Slimmer in 16 with Slimming World

I watched that diet programme yesterday too and have heard of this idea of restricting eating to 10 hours (or some other time period between 8 and 12 hours) per day.
I am wondering whether higher-than-expected weight losses on some weeks might prove to boil down to the person having (for that week) eaten their food within a shorter timespan each day that week?
I know I try not to have my evening meal too late. In fact, its not at all a good idea for a late dinner for me anyway - as I am a "lark" rather than "owl" and have proven a bit prone recently to getting heartburn at night if I have a late dinner.
So - yep....dinner for me is a meal I try not to have on the table later than 6pm (which is the time I personally regard as Dinner Time). Admitted - that's often easier for me these days now that I'm retired. It would be harder if I were still leaving work at 5pm.
I think that's, quite possibly, one reason why it feels like my weight loss is going at a reasonable pace (today's clothes thing was noticing the jumper I was wearing feeling like "room to spare" at the hips - when I've recently had it fitting closely to my hips).
I know that, some time back, a woman commented to me that she'd noticed women tend to start losing weight at 60. I've rather added those facts together in my mind to "Well - 60 used to be the retirement age for women as a whole". So it may be not that they were losing weight at 60 per se - but losing weight when they reached retirement age and retired - and started doing things like having dinner at a more reasonable time each day.
That's my theory fwiw.0 -
Hello Everyone (inc Newbies),
Shala 2lbs loss for me this week please!!! This latest 2 takes me to a total of 25lbs since starting in Sept. I am following the plan myself so I am very pleased with this. I do go to a weight change class at my gym but this is more about general food and nutrition (or fruit and nut as I call it!). However, it just gives me that focus that I need. I then go to the "bodytrax" machine, to look at my stats. However, I use my own scales to weigh in at home as these are the original ones I used at the beginning.
I have put the hard yards in at the gym this week, however not necessarily fat burning classes, but bodybalance and pilates. I am still swimming, and using the cross trainer, and for now this is enough.
I saw that "diet" programme on 4 last night, and I wasn't sure what to think, especially the Alli where the guy didn't follow the recommended dose and had a fat loaded curry. It didn't make for good viewing and felt a bit queasy after watching him go to the bog over 8 times. What did he expect:eek:. I've not used this product, and I did wonder whether it actually works, at least as an aide whilst following SW, which essentially is very low fat. I know it's not endorsed by SW, but that's not to say it doesn't have a place. Has anyone used this with successful results?
Well done on the fab kick start to the NY everyone, and congrats to Candyapple for SOTW. I hope you all get what you wish for at WI, and any loss has got to be a positive. I have a very social weekend ahead so I am hoping for a STS this week. x0 -
Afternoon all x. Congrats Candyapple for first slimmer of the week, an amazing loss, also to everyone else who lost or maintained this week.
I have been mainly on plan for whole week which is an absolute miracle, I will excuse the pink wafer and squirty cream situation I was weak and have pulled back the syns now thank goodness. Weigh day tomorrow so aiming to keep things lighter this evening.
Brek- 2 Weetabix with satsumas.
Lunch- Turkey mince bolegnese concoction with passata, beans toms, onions mushrooms garlic was actually quite nice and very filling.
Dinner- undecided yet but may have a small curry full of speed and a jacket potato.
Snax- 1 hifi -3. A pear and an apple.NST October #24.

Don't do it!!!!
:rotfl:Thanks for the encouragementhopefully next week will be better, my menu for today is below
B. 2x wholemeal hovis toast (HE b), 2 poached eggs, everything served on a bed of rocket and baby leafs, tomatoes, cucumber etc. so the speed makes up 1/3 of the plate
snack 1: 2xsatsuma + apple
L: mixed salad + roasted chicken breast
snack2: muller light +apple + 2x satsumaleftover roasted chicken + mixed salad + sweet potatoe wedges
The menu looks absolutely fine except that it's a bit samey. That doesn't mean you won't lose but you might get bored and SW sometimes say that variety helps in other ways too. And wot no syns???treeny_bash wrote: »maman, I'm still trying to figure out what to do about evening meals. For the last 3 months we've been living off ready meals and takeaways so I'm trying to get into the habit of cooking and having stocked cupboards. It was sw quiche last night which takes forever to cook, tonight I'll get home at around 6.30, it'll be 7 by the time I start on dinner but hopefully it'll be before 8 when it's done. I could live off stir-fries and omelettes but OH is a veggie which makes it harder to do quick dinners that aren't too carb-heavy and protein light. I'll get there in the end, I keep telling myself, babysteps!
Oh yes, I'd forgotten your DH was a veggie. I think batch cooking has to be the way to go or do you have a SC? Instead of making a SW quiche I'd suggest a Spanish omelette and use tinned potatoes to hurry it up. This is just the first one I googled
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2685647/spanish-omelette
and I'd add anything else you like to the onions and peppers but it's the potatoes that make it a substantial meal. Just add salad or baked beans and it won't take any longer than cooking an omelette.0 -
I noticed last night on the Eat Well for less programme that they were only recommending the diets for those that had a BMI of 28 or over. Not 25.
not quite - Alli, that fat binding product, is not recommended for thse with BMI less than 28I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Alli is the brand name for the drug orlistat, due to over the counter regs the dose it is sold at is half the strength that a Gp would prescribe so taking "double dose" isnt a big a deal as they made it out to be on the show. The problem comes from eating fat and although grim to watch on the Tv it is probably accurate for most people. I worked with a girl who took it and would leak orange oil continously and no amount of tena lady was stopping seepage
Certainly not something to take lightly and not something I would wish to tryLiving in a superhero induced haze :A:A

It's just todays menu as we're trying to use all of the leftovers my menu yesterday was:
B. muller light + 40g bran flakes + raspberries, appe, 2xsatsuma
S. apple + satsuma
L: lean turkey mince + kidney beans chilli
S. carrots, radishes, cucumber + fat free yoghurt dip with garlic.
D. steak and onion + syn free chips + mixed salad
I'm trying to get as much different meals as possible so we won't get bored
Syns every other day ~6 for 2 biscuits with my evening cuppa...0 -
Ah ok, that's were I picked the BMI 28 thing from then! I'd rather be overweight than have anal seepage. I said it before and I said it again I really don't think these things should be messed around with. But each to their own and all that, anyone who does experiment please be careful!
I have proper butterflies for class, dreading it tbh!0 -
