Happy hump day everyone! It's cold out there and as we lose body fat we lose insulation so wrap up warm.
On the menu, chez Lioness today:
B: Sultana bran with S/S milk (HEX A&B)
L: Ham and egg salad with cold pasta lovingly dressed with salad cream (3 Syns)Bibimbap with spinach, carrots and onions. This is a Simply Cook recipe, no idea of Syns but I love it so I'm having it anyway. So there!
Snacks: Fruit (banana, grapes, satsuma, apple and raspberries), M&S Count on Us chocolate mousse (4 Syns), Muller whipped (4 Syns).0 -
Sorry only back on this morning, what a frosty one we had here overnight. One of my back doors in the car wouldn't close after I'd opened it and had to sit for 10 mins waiting for her to heat up:mad: Either that or drive down the motorway with the backdoor flapping.
Went to group last night, nearly chickened out as I just felt so tearful but then I'd be failing my New Years Resolution (of attending group every week unless there is an emergency), I've kept my other one upwhich is to do all of the dishes every single night, dry and put away so I come home to a clean sink and kitchen every night. :rotfl: Yes I am that exciting.....but hey I've not failed on it yet!
Happy to report 2.5 off for the chart please Shala.
So I was pleased, hopefully I can keep that going. I think psychologically I will benefit from getting below my operation weight which is 13.5 lbs away. That is the big mini goal in my head.
Once I see myself below that weight I will feel like I have accomplished something. Very strange I know but I since after the op I gained and couldn't lose its all weirdly connected for me and I guess when I get below that weight it will be like me sticking two fingers up to everything that happened last year and saying you've haven't stopped me. That weight is like a mental barrier or something. I have a real fear that I can't get below that weight again. I am most strange I know :rotfl:
But it will be like I'm getting back to me when I get to that weight. If you understand any of this I will be amazed lol
So fingers crossed I get another good week over me and get a good loss each week for a while anyway.
Tete - I had a version of cowboy hotpot / supper last night too from the freezer I had omitted potato and served with some brown rice and celery. I had spiced it up with some chilli and peppers too. It was lovely
Treeny - Wow, I'm sure it was interesting enough though at the time and you are well informed about these things.
Really Shala? I'm glad you didn't suffer from any side effects. Did you buy it urself or were you prescribed it?
Thanks for asking Mrs H, Orlao, Mojo & Greentiger
Thanks for letting me have a little moan on here yesterday, it does help doesn't it. The plan does work when you stick to it, its just getting yourself to stick to it is the problem sometimes as we have discussed on here before. And when you can't seem to get yourself fully there and really want to it can be a very frustrating cycle of self hating.
Oh my consultant declared last night that she only ever does ESSP days so that she can have a chocolate bar of her choice every evening, a proper one at that like a Mars etc. I thought this was most unhelpful information:rotfl:. She said she wouldn't be able to keep weight off eating carbs and then using her syns the way she does. But as I said yesterday most people seem to find little tweaks or ways of doing it to ensure better losses and to suit their cheats and treats. Even those who maintain. I could just see the raised eyebrows of all the new people that had joined.0 -
Meg if are you reading, hope you are feeling better and are being looked after. Thinking about you as lots of us are I'm sure. You are missed.
Every time I am in the reduced section in Asda I think about you, I bought 10 slings of 3 packs of peppers the other week for 10p each and went home and chopped them all up diligently for freezing. You have taught me well! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Interesting seeing all the posts on "ideal weight". According to the link shared earlier, my ideal weight is somewhere just under 10 stone. My target currently stands at 11 stone, which would put me in a healthy weight range according to my BMI. The thing is, as far as I can remember, I've never been that weight in my adult life, so it's very difficult for me to know how I'll look/feel when I get there. I can only imagine the same is true for a lot of people on a weight loss journey, but it definitely makes it difficult when it comes to knowing what to aim for!
I would suggest googling YouTube for tv programmes/films from the 1970s (the last "normal size decade" imo). You just cant look around at people these days to get an idea of what "normal size" looks like. Most school age people are normal size - but once the 20s hit and definitely by the time the 40s hit most people these days are overweight and its just not possible to see how people normally look looking at them iyswim.
Thinking earlier of the best women friends I have and 4 out of 5 of them are fat (yep...and I mean some stones overweight).
Judging by that - one would honestly think "fat is the new normal". Add the fact that its just not normal for people to be "huffing and puffing" their way around as they move and clearly finding it an effort - but all 4 of them do and can be seen wincing/heard groaning etc sometimes for instance when they get up from a seat. That isn't normal - even if its come to seem that way to the extent that people in my agegroup (ie 60s) are expected to be ill - by themselves/the medical profession/each other.
It's one reason I "got my act in gear" and decided I really must get on with the diet now that I'm not being "driven to drink" any more. I could tell I was starting to "huff and puff" and "groan" when standing up. Just walking up a pretty slight incline and I was feeling it and I could see I was going to go into Vicious Circle if much more weight went on - ie it would feel uncomfortable...so I wouldn't move...so I would put on more weight etc.
It's starting to improve gradually. There's a downright steep hill here I have to walk up occasionally and I was finding myself slowing down and/or having a mini-rest whilst walking up it (whilst busily telling myself "I know this is me - as people have obviously been walking up this hill for centuries"). I walked up it again recently and thought "That's a bit better than last time. I didn't stop for a rest and didn't slow my pace down much. Next time I come up this hill I should be able to do so without thinking about it".
Living in a bungalow I don't have occasion to go up/down stairs that much but a regular thing I go to involves having to do so and my knees are still reminding me they exist when I do so at the moment, but they aren't quite as bad as they were. I'm hoping that getting back to proper weight will mean I walk up and down those stairs without thinking twice about my knees.0 -
Morning all!
Menu today:
B - activia, banana, clementine
L - Spicy lentil soup, wholemeal roll (heb)
S - Cheese, grapes, biscuit (4)
D - Lamb curry, rice, brocolli, ff greek yoghurt, berries, meringues (2)
E - Popcorn (4.5), choc rice cake (2.5), jelly (0.5)0 -
Money - that makes a lot of sense. I agree that the 70s were probably the decade when most people were "normal" weight not obese, although I don't want to go back to the weight I was then - just 6 st 7lb and really skinny. I much more comfortable now at 8st 5lb (when at target - but a bit more at the moment!)
Today's plan is:
B - porridge made with water; Mullerlight Banana & Custard; frozen mixed fruit
L - bacon & mushroom omelette
D - pork chop, roast potatoes, veg
HEA - milk - 300ml of 1% (finally got it again - first time since I got back from holiday)
HEB - porridge
Again trying for syn free today - didn't manage yesterday as the dried sausage came out again (finally all gone) only had a few slices so 5 syns.

Well done, lantana
Menu today:
B (late): cold chicken and half a punnet of tomatoes
L: carrot & lentil soup. Possibly topped up with leftover stirfried noodles and veggiescottage pie (5% mince, loads of swede, carrot, onions, peas, tomatoes and courgette added with thyme, marmite and Worcs sauce and topped with mashed potato/ swede/ carrot, mixed with 0% fromage frais to make it creamy) Nice one pot food
May serve with a Portobello mushroom on the side if I feel like it
Snacks: grapes, tomatoes, mushrooms
HexA - skimmed milk throughout day
HexB - stewed fruit after dinner (possibly with 0% fromage frais)
It's so cold that I'm not keen on going out for a walk to get my steps in (although the cold is better than the almost constant rain/ drizzle we were having) Only did 8600 yesterday (although did do 14 floors of stairs) so will try and make some up today by lots of mopping and vacuuming around the house!

Oh my you were small! My mum was 8 stone when she got married and a size 6 / 8. She said she used to cry in school because people made fun of her legs because she they were so skinny. She stays around 10 stone now and is a size 10 / 12 and looks well at that size. She's spent most of her life at weight watchers keeping herself slim. She found that it wasn't under after the two of us in her late 30's that she started to put on weight. But has never been any bigger than a size 14.0 -
Morning all, it's very cold this morning! Was so hard to get out of bed.
Well done Lantana on your loss, must feel good to take that first step towards getting to where you want to be. Hopefully that will be me next week!
Here is today's meal plan. Trying to do this for a while to help keep me on track and make sure I'm not going wrong.
B: 2 Weetabix (B), Semi skimmed milk (A) and a banana
L: Left over spaghetti Bol (with plenty of tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms)Stir fry, chicken with plenty of veg (bean spouts, Chinese cabbage, onions, peppers, mange tout) with dried noodles and home made sauce (all ingredients free)
Snacks: Apple, clementines, small bag of popcorn (3)
I'll probably have some extra syns tonight while watching tv but still to be decided.
Hope everyone has a good day and it's not too cold where you are!0
