Thought for the day being - the old height/weight tables are still there. Googling brings them up and they are both much easier to work out and more accurate than this recent-days BMI imo.

    http://www.calculator.net/ideal-weight-calculator.html

Input height and sex and the ideal weight for you will come up. Its based basically on 4 of the old height/weight tables. It came up absolute on the dot accurate to the lb basically for what I know mine is - ie 8.5 stones. They don't talk about slim/medium or heavier build. It is just one figure. It was spot on for my medium build figure.

I've found that its not actually possible to go by target weights set by people in modern day copies of Slimming World - as those weights seem to be normally set around 1 stone higher than the ideal weight. Years back - I seem to recall equivalent articles were set with target weights according to the height/weight tables.

I'm certainly very conscious that peoples eyes are "trained" to accept/expect to see fatter people/accept themselves being fatter these days.

I must admit that my face was probably a picture recently when one person said to a fat friend of mine that her figure was "fine as it is - you don't need to lose any weight". I kept my mouth zipped shut and didn't say "Actually - you do....as you are several stones overweight"....and I just hope no-one saw my gobsmacked look I probably reacted to that with:rotfl:and I'd whipped it off my face fast and put a "neutral" look on instead before anyone spotted my astonished reaction.

Our first SOTW* is.... :T:j:TCANDYAPPLE:T:j:T with a loss of 3.0lbs!!

    [/QUOTE]

Aww thank you so much, I think it was a fluke either that or my body got confused after I wasn't shoving rubbish into my mouth like I did every day between christmas and new year :rotfl:

I'm still here reading but not posting. I'm still feeling yuck but getting better each day. Wondering what the scales will show this week as I'm really not eating much at all apart from weetabix, soup and the odd piece of fruit. I really want to feel hungry again which I'm sure I'll regret saying when I can't find enough to satisfy me when I'm back on the SW wagon :D

So hiya to the newcomers :hello: well done to the losers or anyone with good news  and hugs to the gainers or anyone having a tough time of it :grouphug:

    Back tomorrow with WI result

    Have a fab Tuesday
    xx

    Morning,

Weigh Day for me, dreading it. Will be disappointed if I've not had a good loss as I've been 100 %

Hopefully your loss catches up for you next week BEG, I'm sure it will.

I know where I want to be at the end of this challenge so determined to get there.

Went to the gym again last night, and legs are a bit sore today.

Hate the wait to 5.30 for weigh in, wish there was a lunchtime class I could attend but no such luck.

Well done Candyapple for being this week's SOTW:T.

DH is off work this week and driving me to distraction!

Trying to stick to plan but find it much more difficult when he's around, LOL!

    Another EE day today:

    B - fruit & FF natural yoghurt
L - beans on toast (HEB)
    D - LO stew & mash

HEA will be milk in tea throughout the day
    HEB - bread

Syns - hopefully none as ended up having too many again last night - DH opened the wine and dried sausage!

Absolutely no point in wasting syns on Crème Eggs this year folks.

Mind you can't remember having any last year either due to being unwell.

Did anyone see the Lose Weight Well programme last night? Thought it was quite good, very watchable but didn't tell us anything that we don't already know.

Wish they would bring a Fat Club type programme back.

    Love those sorts of shows.

    Morning all

Actually went swimming last night - very slow 240m and I had to rest after every 20m lap :o but its a start. I've set some 12 week goals (as I bought a 12 week fitness book to log in) and one is to swim 1000m non stop by then. Got to aim high!

    Plan for today is

    B: Protein Shake
L: HM Turkey curry and rice
D: chicken wrap (HEB) cheese (HEA)

S: muller yogurt (1/2), veg sticks, cottage cheese (1.5) 2 ryvita (3) aldi cereal bar (3)

    Syns - 8

Hit 10,000 steps minimum. aiming for 15, 000
  • Morning!

Thanks for checking shala but I don't want to be in the challenge this time round. Easing myself in, and my name being posted up every week is too much pressure iyswim. Hopefully I'll still be here for the next challenge and I'll join in then!

I watched that c4 thing last night and although it was interesting I wasn't overly impressed. That poor girl on the crash diet that had to do the maple syrup? I would be so annoyed if I'd admitted on national tv that I wanted to lose weight and the only support/suggestion I got was to drink spicy lemonade! I too felt the toilet bit was unnecessary, especially since he took twice the recommended dose and ate a really fatty dinner. Total sensationalism. I'm sure I'll watch the rest of the series anyway, especially since I think the caf! bit might be filmed round the corner from me!

OH was pacing the house last night waiting for dinner, we didn't eat til 8.40 in the end and since he had a really late breakfast and no lunch he was struggling. I'm gonna have to come up with some syn free snacks he can have that to put him on, coz I don't see dinner taking much less time to prepare in the future...
  • apparently there is some special deal in Iceland, with the Slimming World Foods - free yogurts - so therefore I will be popping down this morning - please don't buy them all - my home town in W....

lantanna, the Creme Eggs changed last year. Out of the 20 people in my office at the time, I was the only one who could taste the difference from the old. I can always taste when cheap chocolate is used as I hate it. But the sickly sweet fondant overpowers the chocolate anyway, so it wasn't inedible. :p

money, my target is set higher than the ideal weight for my height, but I'm well aware of and fine with that. I have about 10st of lean body mass so there is no way I could be under 8 stone like it recommends, I would look seriously ill! I'm aiming for somewhere in the "overweight" BMI class and will see from there. I doubt I'll get much into the healthy range, if at all. I'm just too short for my frame. :rotfl:

ETA - I do get what you mean though, I get comments that I'll "disappear" soon when I'm a size 14. I don't mind being in those sizes rather than 8s as it's more sustainable for me, but I know I'm hardly disappearing!

    Anyway, on to today...
Breakfast - French toast, quark and berries. Latte (0.5 A, B)
Lunch - Bacon and avocado salad (some syns, but haven't weighed it out yet)
    Dinner - Chicken and veggies

Will work out the rest of HE and syns later, as usual!
