Hi,
Many thanks for replying - Pleased you got a new dryer out of it, sorry to hear about your floor though!
How do you find the new dryer? Any better?
Thanks for helpful advice, I'll mention to my partner (he is always tweeting companies), and does seem to get some response.
The more I read about these dryers I wonder.
I hope we can secure a new dryer free of charge, we'll give this a go.
I hope your floor was not too costly to repair.
Kind regards!0 -

Our old dryer (2 years old) was an Indesit and was 8kg class C, the new one is a Hotpoint 8kg class B.
It looks exactly the same except for the branding.
It seems to be performing well up to now, but to be fair we hadn't had any problems with the old one.
Hotpoint originally told me they would repair 'at the end of April' but I said that was unacceptable. I expected them to come back to me with an earlier appointment but they just offered a replacement free of charge which I accepted.
As for the floor, the delivery man accepted it was his responsibility and said the insurance would cover it - so it's back to twitter for me!0 -

Perfect thanks, it should fit fine with pipework at the back  :j
Heres the image if anyone else is wondering how it looks0 -
Had my replacement delivered today, spent all afternoon on the phone trying to find out what this stuff on the back is and if it has to be left on or is it packaging which should be removed, Have now spoken to people at Hotpoint who have both said it has to be left on. Reading through some of these threads I have noticed that other people have been told to remove it. Just wondered what you had managed to find out, have you left it on ? There is nothing about it in the users guide or operating manual and as our machine was delivered to the house already unpacked , and after checking twice with Hotpoint , I am now convinced it has to be left on. Does anyone know what it is there for as it appears to have a sticky backing which seems odd if the back of the machine is going to get hot ! Wondering if it might be some sort of sound proofing. The old dryer looked nothing like this !0

I also received the model with the "soundproofing" on the back.. No info in booklets and not shown to be there on picture diagrams in either of the booklets.. Called hotpoint who were not too sure but said if it doesn't come off easily then it's meant to be there... No other info to be found apart from here and the Amazon Q&A as already quoted.. Will try calling again as would like a definite answer from someone who is confident in their reply and not just guessing...0
