These machines leak lint, hair and fluff between the drum and the electric motor/fan which blows air into the heater unit. When i opened the dryer up all the electric wires and the motor were covered in lint , in fact there was a bag full. If it started to burn inside the machine there is no way to put it out, so there safety warning to be there when the machine catches fire is a bit of a joke, because all you can do is dial 999. All these machines will wear and lint will get around the motor as i have seen the problem on mine which is now in the shed not been used. I think the higher management of Whirlpool have not seen the danger of this machine, or have and are telling people to stay with the machine, so when it catches fire you will be able to escape.

And even if you de-fluff them after every use, some of the fluff still reaches the motor, I frequently had to vacuum where my filter was because if failed to catch all the fluff. I note the new machines have a newly designed 'purse' filter.

Was this whilst in operation or had you set the programme but left the door open for 3 mins before closing it and pushing start button.

Ah, not the "problem" I encountered. With my Indesit, you could open the door mid cycle, remove any laundry that was dry, then shut the door and drying would continue in the same cycle. Stop the Whirlpool mid cycle and leave the door open for a couple of minutes and the cycle resets itself back to zero. Which it is designed to do, but a nuisance.

No doubt you've tried it on different times and/or programmes.

I would phone and see what you can arrange, emails can just be put to one side. You may have to try and take time off, or you may reach someone who is more understanding.

From the amazon Q&A part, it needs to be removed. Any chance of a pic of the back of it? I want to know if the back is flat or sticks out in places. Im hoping it will recess in where my pipe work is.
Does the 'carpet' on the back stay there or need removed before use? Is it insulating material or packaging?
    Answer: Good Afternoon,
This material should be removed. This material should also not be attached to any moving part of the product.
