Hotpoint urgent tumble dryer recall

Thx wealdroam for that
Yes... but it only asks you to check the model number. If a mistake is made in the serial number, then it does not ask you to check that.
So if the pairing is important then why does it not ask you to check both? If the serial number is not important then why ask you to enter it.
Is it possible that a production run of one model has some serial numbers that are faulty and some aren't? We don't know and neither do you. If only some in a model run are at fault, then serial numbers MUST be relevant.
And because I didn't specify a valid model number, I'll never know if the message is different if a valid model number is stated with an invalid serial number.
But I repeat, if the consumer is unable to state the correct information, they show seek help from someone who can.
GIGO was a term I learnt when programming computers back in the sixties.
I'll leave you to google it, if necessary.0 -
I registered my Hotpoint dryer in November, and received a standard email with safety advice. On January 28 I received an email stating that I would get a repair date in February.
This afternoon, I received a call stating that I could wait for the February repair date or I could get a new dryer at a 'reduced cost'. My dryer is a year and a half old, and unless the 'reduced cost' = free, then they can stick it up their you-know-what. I told him I would wait for the repair.
I think it's a bit of a cheek to be honest. They have sold me a faulty dryer, and should really be offering to repair or replace it for free. I already paid £200 for my dryer. I really don't see why I should have to pay an additional £99 (or whatever they are offering) when they are the ones who have failed to provide a safe item.0 -
I have just had a full refund for an is70c. £220 for a 7 year old dryer. I quoted the info below to indesit.
"
Under the Sale of Goods Act, the retailer must either repair or replace faulty goods 'within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience'.
I also stated to them "Over 8 weeks for a repair is unreasonable furthermore the products condition has deteriorated due to you recommending I continue to use the dangerous product."
We regd the product for repair in November and was not contacted for a repair until end of January. We refused the repair and asked for a full refund quoting above.
We were issued a full refund after supplying a receipt and they collected the faulty dryer.
Hope this helps someone.0 -

Well done.
Unless you bought your 'faulty' machine direct from Indesit, you were lucky.
I say that because, as you probably know, your rights under The Sale of Goods Act are with whoever sold the thing to you.
Just to add to that, you have no right to any remedy under The Sale of Goods Act after six years from the sale.
But as I said, well done.0 -

Bought from comet, now closed down. but they did not know the retailer before stumping up the cash.0 -
mine is one of the affected indesit dryers purchased in Oct 14 IDV75. they didn't contact me even though i'd registered the guarantee. i contacted them on 26 nov having seen the recall in the newspaper and was sent an email saying they would contact in 5 weeks . they didn't I've chased by email as no phone no is available and got a phone call in Jan saying they needed the serial no even though i had provided this info . a delaying tactic she didn't ever phone back. now recd an email offering
TDWSF83BEP at £99 or a vented one at£ 59. now having googled the condenser one i find they are offering the one subject to the recall again !!. and it seems that others who purchased within the last year have been offered free replacement ! its a shambles by indesit in addition to the fact that the dryer failed completely and needed a new thermostat after 1 year g'tee was up at a cost of £75 . Thanks for the info people i will push for a free replacement - can anyone provide the email address or reliable phone no for them ?0 -
Twitter and facebook have apparently been used to good effect.
Had a phone call from them on Saturday morning asking if I had received an e-mail from them saying they would be coming in February to do the modification.
I asked the lady if she was phoning to fix a time and date and she said no, so ask how I would get to know and she did not know that either.
So my question today is those of you who have had the repair done how were you notified of time and day?0 -
I'm loosing the will to live
I notified Hotpoint of my 'at risk' dryer November. I received an email yesterday saying it would be APRIL before an engineer could attend. The alternative dryer offered for £99 will not fit (unless I reposition my back door).
I have read every post on this thread and tried every number for the past two hours, I have spoken to three people who said I had to speak specifically to the safety campaign team and have either cut me off or given me numbers that constantly give an engaged tone.
I have a large family, I work, and cannot afford an hour each day to babysit my dryer for fear of it burning my house down at any given time between now and April.
I surrender!0 -
Since my post of earlier this morning I have been contacted twice.
By phone to advice me of the date in 2 weeks time between 07:15 and mid night.
I will receive a text the day before from the Engineers Planner.
By Twitter they have advised that they once again have escalated my request to be offered a 7 kg model that will fit.0
