British Gas Collective Fix December 2016

Can anyone help me with this question? The TCR I was quoted by British Gas in the confirmation email was different from the one I saw on MSE CEC. I selected this deal through moneysavingexpert.com and the TCR I wrote down, when making the comparison with my current supplier and the rest of the energy market, was 3.36 for gas and 10.91 for electricity. British Gas quoted 3.45 and 11.92 respectively. Have I made a mistake? Or are there retrospective discounts applied and not counted in the calculation from the supplier?0

Hi Yorkshire Cally,
We wouldn't change your DD straight away but we'd take your new tariff into account in any future reviews. Your credit would also stay on your account until the annual review of your payments but if you’d prefer a refund sooner, we can always arrange that for you. Hi Sharanne
It sounds likely that you've written down your personalised TCR figure, whereas perhaps the TCR quoted by British Gas is based on average consumption.
You can check this by logging into your CEC account, clicking compare other tariffs and then on your results page selecting 'feedback and full info' next to the tariff that you're switching to. In this section we provide side-by-side your personalised TCR and the UK average TCR figures.
I hope this helps.0 -

I'll run with the EON Collective tariff then (not on this site) as it's £169 cheaper.
I have to sign up on a monthly DD basis but they can change it to variable DD after I've joined them. That's what they've told me (via email) anyway so I can hold them to it.
Bye bye British Gas after many years.
Cheers...Colin
Hi Colin
Just a quick heads up. You can certainly change to a Variable Direct Debit whenever you wish but this will mean higher daily standing charges. The lower rates are only available to customers paying with a Monthly Direct Debit. Worth about £35 per fuel per year.
You'll need to contact us to set up a Variable Direct Debit as this can't be done through our website. Once arranged, we'll take the full amount of each bill from your bank 14 days after the bill date.
Hope this helps Colin.

It's been 8 days since i applied to change onto the new collective tariff.
My Gas had changed over after 3 days but my Electric is still on the old tariff.
Anyone else still experiencing the same ?
I would have thought BG being the biggest supplier would be on top of things like this.0 -

Hi Jessmist
I spoke to British Gas about this issue earlier today. It has told us that in most cases tariff changes for existing customers will be processed in around 5 days.
It has told us that it has a check process for where the initial agent has only been able to transfer one fuel (I explained the scenario's a few days ago) which is kicking off today and so I'd expect your remaining tariff to catch up shortly.
I hope this helps to reassure you.0 -
all my tariffs are now confirmed changed when I log in, but BG online accounts are messy all history data is lost, predict next bill does not work, and tariff section just opens to nothing, any ideas Dan L0

Thanks Dan
I appreciate your update. It just seems crazy that BG find themselves having difficulty switching between tariffs.
All they seem to do is promote smart meters but then it causes account problems.
The BG rep doesnt seem to reply on the forum either.
I can't fault the energy club and to get this collective tariff is brillant.
Thanks0 -

That does sound frustrating. I don't know the background to this I'm afraid, but will certainly ask BG the question...and try and get it to post on here!0 -
Thanks Dan,
just checked again and its still the same, also do you think I should have received an email or letter confirming switch, or do they not bother with existing customers0
