I received this email from SainsburysEnergy after I enquired about the possibility of an exit fee. The answer seems to be at odds with everyone saying that no exit fees will be charged. I'm confused!
I hope you’re well. Thanks for the email you sent, it's such a shame to hear you're thinking of leaving us.
I've had a good look into your query and can see you're currently on our Fixed Price June 2016 Tariff. If your were to leave Sainsbury's Energy before 16th May 2016 you will incur cancellation fee's of £30 per fuel. Although we work in partnership with British Gas we are two separate company's.

Thanks for that, just checked my contract (Fix 2016) and yes there are 2 charges of £30 for early exit.
Just emailed BG to cancel.
Will leave it till Feb to look again.0 -

Well from the Cheap Energy Club text:British Gas has launched a rare, market leading 12 month dual fuel fix (ie, the rate is guaranteed for a year). Existing BG and Sainsbury's Energy customers can also get it and won't pay exit fees to switch. Factor in the £30 dual fuel cashback (£15 single fuel) and for most it's a winner.
So I'm not going to cancel the switch yet. Certainly will cancel if the Cheap Energy Club, Money Supermarket and MSE have told us porkies though.0 -
I switched to EON (collective switch) from NPower last year. Got £30 from CEC, £10 in supermarket vouchers (there is still some points outstanding, not sure how the rest can be redeemed) and paid way less than Npower and I am actually "in credit". My next cheapest tariff with EON would have cost me a dearly £125 more a year. Loyalty doesn't pay. So I have now switched to BG. Hope the switch goes as smoothly as last time. EON made my dual fuel start at different dates with a gap of 2 weeks. Hope BG can get them started on the same time. Not that it matters.
Thanks to CEC for getting me this good offer (again).SPC 08 - #452 - £415
SPC 09 - #452 - £2980 -

Hi there
Just to clarify British Gas have told us that 100% it does not charge exit fees for customers switching between brands (BG-SE or SE-BG).
We've asked it to recommunicate this message out to its customer service agents to try and avoid incorrect information being shared on this point.
Thanks0 -

Hi Domestic1983
That does sound a little strange. it might be that British Gas' process takes a little longer for one fuel and so both can't be completed at the same time. I've asked the British Gas representative to comment on this point here.0 -
ok thanks for that just been on the phone with british gas and been advised it might be a problem on your side as you are the ones who switch the tariffs0

Is it possible to switch from single fuel to dual fuel on this offer? Not sure how to do a comparison with no gas to compare. Is only comparing the electric enough to qualify?0
