i am with Sainsbury / British Gas and am looking to switch. I'm wondering whose scheme this is and how will I receive bills, who from and can I give meter readings online still ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This is a British Gas deal. So all your bills will be coming from them.
You will still be able to do online meter readings and manage your account online.
They also do a smart phone app which you can use to submit meter readings through as well.
  • I am also on the Sainsbury's Energy Fix February 2016 and am very tempted by this British Gas deal. The only thing putting me off at the moment is that some of the other firms are yet to show their hand. I'd be disappointed if, after switching, another supplier came along with a British Gas busting deal! Sometimes it pays to be patient and see what else is offered in a month's time.

That said, I'll probably bite anyway haha!

True, as this tariff is with British Gas I have no doubt someone will come along and beat it(!) however main thing is that if you're currently fixed with BG or Sainsburys there's no penalty for leaving so if one did come along soon that was better it would have to be greater than £60 better to be worth it to us.
  • Hello,
    This is my first post.
I've just applied to join the British Gas Collective Tariff too - it should save a few quid.
I am concerned I may have messed up though.
I was on the British Gas Dual Fuel January 2017 tariff and I don't know if I have to pay a £100 exit fee even though I'll still be with British Gas for both Gas and Electricity.
I also filled in the details re Direct Debit and gave a different date because there was nowhere to say I already had an existing couple of Direct Debits with British Gas. I guess I can cancel my old ones, so this is a secondary concern.
Does anybody have any personal experience of these two issues,please..... particular the exit fee when changing tariffs very early with the same supplier?
I have been with British Gas for years through inertia,so this is all new to me....Martin Lewis has shaken me out of my lethargy.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Peter

    Hi Peter

There have been a few posts around exit fees on this thread, but just to clarify British Gas have told us that it won't charge exit fees if you're swapping from one tariff to another with it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the direct debits. Normally if you're switching with your existing supplier it'll just keep the original direct debit in play - but we'll use the bank details provided to arrange your cashback in a few months.

Hopefully this post clears things up for you.
  • Hello folks who run the MSE Cheap Energy Club,
Thank you so much for clearing up my concerns so quickly. What a brilliant Idea to work collectively for consumers in return for a small but transparent profit from the energy suppliers.
This makes the consumer the big guy not the supplier....Like the original Cooperative movement of the Rochdale Pioneers and completely unlike the discredited bank with the inappropriate name.
    Thanks again,
    Peter

When I switch from the Sainsbury Feb2016 fix to the BG Dec2016 fix:
    • Will I have the same userID and password for online access?
    • Will I get a refund of my credit balance, or will it carry forward to the "new" supplier?

    Does anybody know?

Not sure about your second question but I applied to switch a couple of days ago from Sainsburys to BG and my sainsburys login details are working on BG's site now with that online account showing the pending switch orders
