I've just put in my application to switch. Already with Br Gas on the Feb 2016 Price Promise. With the cheap energy club so got the email re the new tariff. Can't believe it is not even listed in the Br Gas website! Anyway hope it all goes through and I will then benefit from the £30 as well!0

From what I know of them I believe these collective fixes aren't allowed to be advertised/promoted by the suppliers themselves, not sure of the exact reason why.0 -
Hi,
Hope this is the right place to ask this and sorry if its a really obvious question but I've honestly trawled through pages and cannot find a straight answer to a couple of questions.
I'm currently with BG and want to switch to this tariff as I'll save lots but:
- does this mean I need to cancel and recreate a direct debit?
- do I need to repay anything potentially owing on the existing contract with BG (currently on a standard rate as previous fix just ended)
Thanks for you help in advance, much appreciated.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Hi Joeyjibles
As an existing British Gas customer you shouldn't need to do anything with the direct debit. Normally your existing payment will continue (but we'll use your bank details still so that we can pay cashback).
Your account won't be changing, just a new tariff added to the existing account, so it'd be unusual to be asked to clear an existing debit balance on the account.
I hope this helps.0 -
Thanks so much Dan, that was exactly what I wanted to know. I haven't switched in this manner before and perhaps it would have become clearer as I went through the process but I wanted to check.
The debit element is based on their projections anyway which are skewed as we had protracted boiler replacement last winter resulting in using v little gas and lots more electricity in that timeframe.
Thanks again, I shall gather up the details and go ahead. Looks like I could potentially save £300 on the year which would be great.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

I have just signed up to the offer. A great deal should save around £200 plus the £30 cashback.
I am well happy now.
I am currently a BG customer so will my tariff just change over on the 2nd December ?
Thanks0 -
I have just signed my In-laws up to the BG deal. When i completed the online form for them it asked for both electric and gas customer numbers.
When i applied on my own energy it only asked for my current gas account reference number.
So i am wondering if mine has gone through ok ?

It isn't possible to time a tariff switch, so rather you'll move to this fix from whatever date British Gas process this for you.
On the application form we try to prepopulate your supply numbers from the utilities database. However if we're unable to find a matching number for your property we instead ask you to enter this.
So for many users no supply numbers are needed, but in other cases either your gas or electric (or sometimes both) require a manual entry.
I hope this helps to reassure you.0 -
Thanks Dan that's great then.
I am on the new billing system with BG so i have the same account number for both gas and electric.
It's good that BG are trying to take the lead and gain new customers as well as keeping existing customers happy.
