So anyone else just switched to British Gas Collective Fix December 2016 that was on the MSE email?

I was on Sainsbury's Discount Fix February 2016 so looks like I should save a small amount of money, not have to pay the exit fee, get back some of the money Sainsbury's have of mine (I'm about £300 in credit), get my direct debit down, get another £30 cash-back and be re-fixed to Dec 2016. Win win!

Now just hoping it all goes through OK with no complications!

How did you do a comparison first which it says you have to..I couldn't find my tariff on there which is the same as yours?

In this area this tariff seems to be a few quid a year more than the previous CEC deal, and more than my current supplier.

Sorry I'm quite new to this, what's CEC? And who/which tarriff are you currently with, is it still available?

The main one for me was not having to pay the exit fees from my current tarriff to switch to it as it's technically the same supplier.
  • I am on the Sainsburys Discount Fix February 2016 and am interested in the new British Gas Fix.

Does anyone know if you have to have a Smart Meter or do you have the option not to ?

It asked me if I had one (I don't) when I did the switch but didn't say I needed one or would have to get one in the future.
  • I'm currently on Sainsburys Energy Fix Aug 2016. So, reading the above, I can move to this new BG deal, get another £30 cashback, plus save £8/month and extend the fix period, whilst not paying an exit fee. Seems too good to be true.

    Hi Luckwudaveit

That's right, as an existing Sainsbury's Energy user British Gas have told us you won't pay an exit fee to move to this tariff.

I hope this helps to reassure you.

MSE's Cheap Energy Club, which is a name they use in conjunction with their price comparisons and these occasional collective offers.

Mine is with Scottish Power, which typically (for the last 2 or 3 years, or longer) seems to work out cheapest in about half the supply areas in the country, and not so competitive in others. No exit fees.

Ahh I see, sorry didn't pick up on the acronym.

Scottish Power didn't appear on my comparison so assume I'm not in one of the competitive areas.
