I wonder if someone knows if you can opt for paper billing with BG? I'm trying to do the switch for a relative and have managed to get them to agree with D Debits but paperless is still a step too far.
    Thanks for any help

My parents have kept paper billing with this offer.
When you go through the process I think it gives you the option to select if you want a paper bill.

Thanks Jessmist. I've just completed the switch application and it does give the option for paper or paperless. Ta.

    That's good then.
Be interesting to know how many people sign up to the Tariff.

I've just had confirmation in the post that my change from the BG standard rate to the collective deal has gone through now. I've phoned through my meter readings on the date of the switch so I don't get pro-rata'd at the higher rate! The collective rate works out at roughly 2/3 of the standard rate so will make a big saving.
Recruited several friends to this so they too can benefit.
Thanks to MSE CEC for making the arrangement.
  • both accounts for gas and electric now saying collective fixed rate, however all data on energy usage online with BG is now saying theres a problem, also will BG alter my direct debit accordingly or will I have to reduce it online
  • If you go to the direct debit tab on the navigation it will show you your new recommended monthly direct debit. You'll then need to manual accept it.

Also all my energy usage has reset too. So I've raised a query with British Gas, which will hopefully sort it. Otherwise I'll be extremely annoyed.
  • Done collective switch from Sainsburys Discount Fix Feb 2016 to British Gas Tariff. No penalties. Will be saving £314 a year! Switch going through ok. Cheap Energy Club is fab! 😀
  • I am already with BG and I am about £300 in credit, if I opt into this hidden tariff will my £300 stay showing on my account or will it have to be refunded. Plus will they change my DD amount automatically or do I need to do anything.
