Hi fmess... I do need my car, my brother just needs it more (apparently).
Before the weather changed I have been using our campervan to drive to work. But it is not used in winter as unable to steer, brake, etc in the snow.
As a result, this week my dad has driven me into work and OH will be picking me up.
:undecided
We had a spendy day today as OH went shopping for some bits and pieces. Would you believe we ran out of soap!!
That is despite halving each container.
Hugs to you all.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Evening all,
Hugs GSR, sounds like you (and OH) need some hugs
justforme sorry work is stressful but glad they have recognised you deserve a pay rise and that your boss is supportive
Today was a SFDWaiting for payday on Wednesday so that I can pay off my credit card and all the spending I did in advance of payday. Also got my first counselling session this week so fingers crossed that will be positive and help.

A spendy day again today - bought a birthday present and christmas present for my dad plus walking boots and canvas shoes for me. I got soaking feet on the way home from work today so decided that a proper pair of walking boots was needed (I walk a lot) and then I can change into the canvas shoes once I get to work. That's the plan anywayGot a great bargain on them so really pleased. I also bought the few things off my shopping list that I had forgotten about.
Today I'm grateful for
- fab bargains on footwear
- a very busy but productive day at work
- finding some hot chocolate I'd forgotten about in the cupboardMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

Stewby soap and a couple of other basic toiletries were what triggered my purchases at the end of last week. having twice lost the sliver that was left and then hunting around for it in the bath, i thought it was time.
Apple great quote. I had a moment of despair last night and then pulled myself together. I decided last week that I would embroider something for myself/ the house. Partly as a reaction to what other turtle had said about getting their houses how they wanted them and partly to kickstart my creativity again. Took the drawer of part done bits out, there was another underneath, found the drawer of odds and ends thread and suddenly felt overwhelmed. There seemed so much, especially as I have sorted through during the year and also devoted at least a couple of months to finishing part completed projects.
Quickly decided to stay positive. I have picked out some Christmas decorations (very intricate, over 600 stitches per square inch). They might not have been what I wanted to do, but will use up bits, look really special and it is something for me (and the house).
Thrifty seeing the pandas is on my wishlist but I will have to work up to it. Struggling to get to have a day out in the city (and plan to stop part way so I can get the cemetery visits out of the way).
Hugs to GSRcat, Justforme and Calling. There have been some months when I couldn't participate in the challenge. When I was doing the house up there were times when I knew I would add to my debt instead of reducing, but the purchases were a necessary part of making the house saleable and I had used all my own funds. Some months I have not been able to do all the parts of the challenge and have either been given a dispensation or an alternative.
I know the months with the turtles are better than struggling alone. Even when I couldn't take part I have read along, done what I could or acted as cheerleader. Life gets in the way, things don't always go to plan but we do what we can and start again each month. Some habits become automatic, we think more about what we are doing, we may not manage all the challenge tasks but the things we do, do make a difference. No turtle gets left behind.
I have given in and put the central heating on today. It was icy cold, going to the bathroom was a challenge and even with extra layers (and my panda hat) I kept falling asleep. So heating on, a bath once the bathroom was bearable and a fairly lazy day.
I have posted cards to Australia (does everyone know their posting dates for far away relatives?) but mainly tried to keep warm.
Today I am grateful for the pack of fish fillets (should have been 6, there were 9), for central heating and for being warm (feeling frail but much better than this morning). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Hi everyone
Fairly quick check in from me tonight. Sorry that I got you all wanting almond honey hot chocolate:o:o but I can highly recommend it
GSR - hope you're doing ok. My hubby is off work (again) after burning himself out. We normally go well for a couple of years and then he falls into a pool of anxiety and depression for a few months. It's hard work living with him - so I can partly understand how you're feeling.
Stewby - if you need the car, then you need to get it back off your brother - it's your car. Brother or not, I think 4 months is taking the pittle a little bit.
Full teaching day at work so had good intentions but no time to get much done. I did get round to ringing up and getting my phone onto sim only for the time being - quite pleased with that as it should save me about £20 a month. Other than that, just teaching and being busy.
Things I am grateful for today:
1. My lovely friend who is about to become my personal trainer (gift to myself for becoming df)
2. Having plenty of meals prepared so that I didn't have to worry about cooking when I got home from work.
3. Snuggling in my warm bed on a very cold night. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
