NST: Standing Firm in November
Dedicate yourself and be ruthless for the next 30 days.
Work out what you truly need and learn to separate your needs from your wants.
We are bombarded by advertising that tells us that we need to continuously spend more and more, to acquire more and more, in order to be better people.
DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIES.
Work out what you truly need and learn to separate your needs from your wants.
We are bombarded by advertising that tells us that we need to continuously spend more and more, to acquire more and more, in order to be better people.
DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIES.
- Live and lead by example.
- Be proud of the changes you are making and what you are trying to accomplish.
- Create your code and live by it.
- Stand up for what you believe in. You will attract the right people and repel the negative. Find the right people for your life and don't be afraid to let go of negativity.
November is often the time when we want to hunker down, treat ourselves, reward ourselves, eat comfort food... But not the Turtles! We are here to bust our debts, hit our targets, reach out to others, and support each other all the time.
November rules: (But remember – only YOU are in charge of YOU)
- The challenge runs from 1st to 30th November 2015.
- You will set your budgets for everything by planning ahead. You will then reduce your food budget by £10. Eat simply. Get your veggies in you.
- You will pay to your debt or savings first. You will then live off the rest, as per your budget. You will not wait and see how much is left at the end.
- You will achieve at least 15 NSD – that means you can spend on alternate days (generous, huh?). An NSD will NOT be spoiled by purchasing Yellow Sticker products only, or medication, fuel or paying for regular children’s activities (when planned in advance and the monies put aside in an envelope).
- You will not go to any chain coffee shops or use vending machines or corner shops.
- You will take your lunch to work every single day.
- You will remove 80 items from your house – recycle them, give them to charity…
- You will use up your toiletries and household cleaners before buying any more.
- You will hone and tone your food cupboards by meal planning and batch cooking. (Even doing enough for one extra meal counts)
- You will go on 2 outings. Choose wisely.
- You will tread lightly on our planet – get out there and enjoy fresh air every day: breathe it in slowly and deeply and energise your body.
- You will donate £5 or time to a charity you support. Foodbanks are often in need at this time of year. Look at http://www.trusselltrust.org/
- You will come on here every day and post three things you are grateful for.
- You will reach out to help other people.
- The hardcore among you will aim to make £80.
- You will also START 3 new habits this month, ones that are simple and will make you feel better (eg: drink a glass of water on waking)

Count me in!
My budgets are already set and I will take a tenner off food right now! Meal planning each week will help with my work lunches. I may struggle with the 80 charity/recycling items as I gave away about this much for last months challenge in clothes - does stuff for my recycling bin count?! One of my two outings will be afternoon tea (deposit paid) the other will most likely be rugby related. I'll try and do a lunchtime walk each day at work, I work in some amazing places so I should really be doing this anyway. Charity £5 is done from my payslip to Macmillan so tick to that one. I've just signed up for time bank in my area so hopefully this will be up and running. I'll try and help someone each day too. No idea how to make £80?! And will have a think about 3 new habits...
I really love the idea of posting what we're grateful for, it will deffos make me think. 15 NSDs here we come!0 -
