  • Hey everyone :D
Another late finish, but I don't have to get up at half past six in the morning - so I'm more than happy with that.
Sorry about the job Dolly - I went for interview at a school a couple of years ago and lost out because they were looking for a physics specialist. They rang me six months later and asked me to apply for a job they were going to advertise - so I did, and I didn't get it. Then they asked me to apply again if anything else came up  I think not
Brilliant Christmas idea Thriftylass. I was thrilled when I heard my dad mention he wanted a new Satnav so I knew what to get him. I've had to go halves on it with my sister. My mam is one of those people who has everything they want - I have no idea what to get for her.
So I bagged another nsd today, which I'm pleased about. I think tomorrow, I'm going to attempt to make the most of a load of Sainsbury's offers to see how much stuff I can get for a small amount of money. Fingers crossed....:p
Things I am grateful for today
    :D It's the weekend again
    :D I marked 3 sets of books
:D Seeing my ds in his class assembly

We had snow last night here, only a bit but it must have been cold. The thermostat read 12 degrees when I got up. Didn't sleep well last night due to drinking red wine too late into the evening and the wind, we have ours and DS's window open during the night as we get very condensed up otherwise but it was blowing an arctic gale through so eventually I had to drag myself up to shut them.

I have made a big pan of porridge this morning and me and DS have polished off a huge bowl each with nutella in. The coffee machine is on and I am on my second large mug.

I am hoping we can get out for a walk somewhere today with the kids (they'll love that), I love walking in cold weather. We have no money in our entertainment budget so whatever we do will have to be free. Tonight we are having a games night with the kids, DD has requested Trivial Pursuit (the family one) so we will dig that out of the cupboard.

Tea tonight is curry for me and DH, we use a jar sauce from Lidl which has a little pot of spices on the top, I can recommend the Madras one if anyone likes a fairly hot curry.

  • I'm with you dolly - a very restless night for me thanks to the windy weather. I too had to admit defeat and get myself out of bed at 3am to close a window. There was a bit of snow then, which thankfully has gone this morning but it is still utterly freezing. I hate being cold so the heating is on, and will probably be on for much of the day but I'll do my best to minimise use.
I have lots of plans today but I'm just going to try and be kind to myself really because I'm quite tired. Have a good day everyone! :D

Hi everyone:) There was snow here this morning. I hate the cold weather with a passion so I was not impressed! The little one was glad and wanted to go out in it  I soon put that idea out of his mind, lol. I know how you feel CCL, I'm totally knackered again and just want to be at home, especially as I have to go out tomorrow. I am looking forward to a catch up with my friend don't get me wrong, but the weather and being broke are not a good combination when it comes to being sociable, lol! Spending wise, because of christmas, it is starting to add up, but I'm only buying what I can afford and making adjustments, so all should be well :o Have a good day everyone :)

  • Morning everyone :)
Feeling a bit poo today - physically and mentally :/ Feel so drained and down in the dumps. Doesn't help my brother is annoyed at me because each couple are paying £50 for my parents Xmas present, we agreed in Sept to do this. I told him when I get the deposit back from my old house I would pay him (still not been paid) and I told him last night and he give me a dirty look and didn't say anything. I know he's peed off with me just hope he doesn't start being mean or having a go at me :/ I told him I might be able to pay on pay day last month but my pay was messed up so I couldn't. We were on holiday a couple of weeks ago and OH gets paid weekly and if he doesn't work he doesn't get paid so we've had to keep money aside so we can get food and stuff. Anyway enough of me moaning!!

Dolly - you can but your car HAS to stay at your address over night and I spend some nights over at mums and you can't drive from 10PM to 7AM which includes even moving the wheels or you get "fined" There are so many restrictions on what you can and can't do and you pay around the same if not more anyway :/

Thrifty - My dad is really hard to buy for too, mum is easy to buy for, but it's so hard to find something my dad will like and will have a use for. I refuse to buy presents that are going to sit in a box collecting dust. I like that sound of them vouchers, might think about something like that for him next year as he loves doing things like that :)

Three thing's in grateful for today:
    1. My family have come up from Southend (Essex - where I originate from :D) and we're having an early Christmas. I love seeing them.
    2. My cats for giving me lots of love this morning
    3. My hubby for running upstairs to get my eyebrow pen because they weren't even in the better light downstairs!!

    xx

Choccie lover, sorry about your brother :( He should be more understanding. All of these factors are completely out of your control, so I don't think the dirty looks were called for in all honesty. Please don't feel bad about it!

My mum I find hard to buy for and a bit ungrateful if i'm honest. I'll explain. If someone who is not one of her children buy her something, she'll make a big deal or fuss and have the thing on show all the time. When any of us do she puts it away and you never ever see it and acts a bit disappointed. She only ever wants money from us but I cannot really afford to give a 'decent' amount. As I'm always on holidays she thinks I'm loaded, but she does not seem to understand my situation. Sorry for the rant :o

Today I'm grateful that my sons scalp condition is on the mend, my older son safely reaching Germany this morning (he has to be there all weekend to film a fashion show or something) central heating and my little one making me laugh :)

  • Why am I always a day behind on this thread?!

I went to bed at 8.30 last night, I was so cold and tired. I put on a DVD, planned to post on here and OH brought me up a skinny mocha. Not sure what time I fell asleep but, needless to say, the mocha got cold, the post didn't get made and the film finished without me!

    So, for yesterday:
    • OH bringing me mocha in bed (even though I didn't drink it)
    • Having the money to get the roof fixed
    • Lovely, encouraging chat with colleague
  • Traveller - thank you :)
Sorry to hear that, I know people that can be like that and there is no need :/ it is the thought that counts!

Black Cat - You're not the only one!! I'm the same haha it's nice sometimes though so have a nice chill out in bed :)

    xx

    Afternoon everyone,

I too have had to have the heating on a bit today. There was snow overnight but it didn't settle although it's freezing today.

I've had quite a spendy day and put it all on the credit card as I don't get paid until next Wednesday. Needed cat food but it was so much cheaper to buy in bulk that I bought all of december's too. I was going to put the winter quilt on but it had really turned manky since I put it away last spring so decided to get it laundered and found out it was £25 for two quilts at the dry cleaners. Looked online and found I could buy a new one cheaper and it was better quality than my existing one! Do I've relegated the old one to be a dog bed and picked up the new one. Got a few bits of food shopping and then whilst I was already spending bought petrol which should last at least two weeks. All spends are out of next month's budget so when I get paid I'll pay them off the credit card and it's a cash back one so I guess I have made money ;)

Off to walk the dogs now before it gets colder.
