Love to you mothernerd - things seem tough for you at the moment. I hope that your health is on the up soon because that really will make a difference.
I'm just popping on quickly to report my 3 things to be grateful for today. It's been non stop again, and every time I plan an early night I seem to still be up and about at midnight. Anyway - they are:
1. Unexpected £25 from a friend that wanted to buy something from me.
2. Almost finished my Christmas shopping.
3. Being in bed with a cuppa, two of the cats and MSENot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Good evening.
Sorry for the lack of posting... usual reason. Nightshifts get in the way so often.
Xmas rota is almost up. Appears I am on nightshift over Xmas. One of my colleagues was telling me that Xmas, Boxing Day, the 1st and the 2nd are not public holidays so people working 27th, 28th, 3rd and 4th will get paid more than the people who are actually working the holiday.
Can't decide if this bothers me or not. I am employed to provide a service and I get more than minimum wage to do so. As a result I feel that I have no right to complain and should be grateful that I have a job that I love (despite sometimes feeling rotten and overwhelmed by it).
How would other people feel about this??
:undecided
A bit bored just now to be honest. I should be credit card free towards the end of December and I just want it to happen now. Feel a bit weird wishing my life away but I want to get started on paying off the mortgage and making a bit of an emergency fund.
Has anyone else had this sort of feeling??
It's a weird sort of negative vibe at the moment. Feeling very unsure and uncertain about everything. Haven't felt this way since my first LBM.
I am sure it will pass. I think the past few days at work has just shaken me up a bit. Sorry to ramble on.
Only 10 days until payday!! Hooray!!
Hugs to everyone.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Hi Stewby
I felt the same - was itching to get finally rid of the debt. Fortunately we were able to use some savings to pay off the last little bit a month early. Hang on in there - it will be worth the wait! Are you into spreadsheets? If so, you could start planning/plotting what your finances are going to look like in January - how fast your emergency fund is going to grow, how much you can overpay the mortgage etc. A spreadsheet or list keeps me very happy and I feel I'm doing something even if it's not reality yet
All the best

Stewby - I'm not sure I understand what your colleague means about the pay for Christmas. When I worked in Care, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years day were double time but if one of those days fell on the weekend the day that was given in lieu of it was normal time because you had either worked the actual day and been paid double or had the day off.
I have a ton of stuff to do today, I have work to get done, the beds are stripped and one load of bedding is in the machine now, they all need to be remade though. I need to clean the bathroom and dust downstairs, wash the dog towels, walk the dog, go for a run/cycle, and make dough for hm pizza.
I had an interview this week but didn't get the job - no surprise there then. When the lady rang me she said I gave a fantastic interview, my answers were better and more comprehensive than anyone elses and I raised points no one else did but they have given the job to an internal candidate already working in one of their centres. She then went on to say they really, really want me to work for them and would I please apply for other positions as and when they come up. I think that just about takes the biscuit.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Dolly sorry to hear about your interview. It probably wasn't her decision alone as I'm sure company politics were involved in preferring the internal candidate (i wonder it was a "mock" interview to cover the transfer of the internal candidate but they realised they actually got a really good external candidate through it-you) I wouldn't dismiss her comments.
OH got paid from his old job and it is a lot less than expected (1/4). I wonder if they took the whole childcare voucher allowance, pension etc off half a month's wage. But it's still doesn't seem enough. He'll phone them as soon as he had a look at the wage slip. His new job should pay him on the 26th for about 9 day. So next month will be really tight. Better not pay as much as planned off the CC to have some leeway. Most christmas shopping is done and OH has amazon vouchers left so that should be ok. Also got loads of leftover meals in the freezer and other frozen food that should cover most of next week till my payday. Onkly need fruit, milk and sandwich stuff.

Morning turtles, didn't get round to posting yesterday as I had a tech free evening and spend it lying on the sofa reading a book - bliss
A spendy day yesterday as I picked up a couple of extra bits to go with tea and also got 6 packs of gf rolls for 29p each :T
Payday from 2nd job today, only worked 1 very short shift last week so not a massive amount but was able to make a £4.52 payment towards the loanI've phoned the credit union this morning so £200 of my christmas savings is on its way to me.
A day off work so I'm planning to go to the gym, do some cleaning/clearing out, make christmas cards and meet my gran. Hope everyone is having a good Friday, hugs to anyone who needs one and I'll check back in later with any spends/my three things.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

LSD - wish my insurance was £257!! It is hard and when I first starting driving I was living at my parents house so didn't have to pay all the bills I pay now. My first year's insurance (I was 18) was £1300, it was the cheapest I could get (all others were £2000+) and had to pay it off all in one go. Luckily my dad paid it for me but I've only just managed to finish paying him off (It was more than that he fixed my car a few times and got me some other things so the debt was about £2500). When I first passed my test I was working just to keep my car on the road!! Am hoping over time my NCD builds up and I too can pay my insurance off in one go
Motherned - Sending hugs, hope you feel better soon
Dolly - Sorry to hear about the job. It really annoys me when companies do that!! They have to advertise jobs to people that don't work within the company so it looks good on them! My brother had a similar thing happen to him, he applied to work for Mr T as a delivery driver, was the only one with a clean license and passed the test with flying colours. After making him wait for over three weeks they gave the job to an internal applicant!!
Going to try for a NSD today but might end up nipping to the butchers because I didn't defrost anything for dinner!! I have some bacon in fridge so could do something with that but did promise hubby some nice sausages. (he may have to wait)
Three things I am grateful for:
1. It's hubby's payday
2. My family are coming up today so will looking forward to seeing them tomorrow
3. Short shift at work so I have the afternoon to potter around at home

Oh Dolly, that's rubbish. Really bashes your confidence. I applied for a job recently and I was actually encouraged by the place to apply but I didn't even get shortlisted! Needless to say I quite upset and felt like I had wasted my time.
Stew by, I don't understand how Christmas Day and Boxing Day aren't included! Should be double time at least! My work have a delivery on Boxing Day so I might offer to do a few hours of its premium rate...
I'm sat here freezing despite the layers I have on! I'm loathe to switch the heating on when it's just me.
Not much to share today other than its a planned spend day, need to get some friut and veg and money for mine and DDs haircuts tomorrow (we are desperate for haircuts as haven't had it done since April!)
Selling an old phone through one of those recycling sites so I hope to get at least £50 for it which will go straight on the CC, I might have said before I am planning to clear the lower amount before Christmas and close it.
I'm looking forward to getting paid so I can plan![STRIKE]497.00[/STRIKE][STRIKE] 286.34[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]182.00[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]180.00[/STRIKE][STRIKE] 130.00[/STRIKE] CC1 Paid!!:j

chocolatelover - the insurance premiums for young drivers are a disgrace, you are just being ripped off. Isn't there something you can have fitted to your car to show you are a good driver? Or am I just imagining that.
GSRcat - to be asked to apply then not even get an interview is awful - it must be a power thing with some people.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
