LSD - personally I would just get Next paid off asap without moving it to your cc. Then close the account.

Justforme - sorry to hear about your friend, her family will surely appreciate the support of the community just now.

I'm sure there are lots of perfectly good second hand ovens out there but it is just knowing whether they are safe, you may end up paying more getting a corgi engineer to fit it.

Just chugging along here with nothing exciting happening. The washing is out on the line in the wind and if the rain holds off it should dry. I delivered all my Avon cards yesterday (100 of them and it took longer than expected) no new customers yet but one lady did ring me to say she was back home after her summer in France and wanted to order.

Still waiting for my credit from co-op energy (avoid this company at all costs) I phoned once but couldn't get through, submitted an online request then spoke to someone Monday she was useless and said she would email me but hasn't. I am going to email them now.

  • Thanks dolly, i dont really want to transfer it, hence asking for advice, closing it is a very good idea, although i wouldnt mind keeping a tiny limit just so that i get access to their online sale, im not sure if they'd allow me say £100 limit: i'll have to ring, and also ask that i have no increases in credit!! Ive currently got £5000 available to use.

No chance of drying outside here,as justforme said, South Wales is miserable today!!! Also justforme, its nice to hear that your community came together like that.

No plans today except posting the fleabay item, dont even want to do that tbh!! :rotfl:
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Hello,

just a quick check in. Back from Germany and trying to play catch up in work and life. No internet for 5 days which was bliss but also strange. So will have to do a lot of reading here ;). Only spend 20 Euros and will keep the remaining 40 for March when we all go over. I have £133 left for the month which will be fine. DH got on ok with DS but he had help from Papa most of the time. At least the freezer is empty which means he must've cooked sth decent rather than just pizza. DD had a blast too. Her speech and understanding of German came on in leaps and bounds (sp?). Will look through the kitchen tonight and make a details shopping list and a meal plan if I manage.

    Se you later

Morning folks feeling brighter today phew.
Think it is this time of year, not being able to get out in daylight much.

Siouxsie - apologies must have scrolled fast past yr post welcome home.

Chairing555 Welcome and totally agree with you re tax break for work clothes.

CCL glad your observation went well and thanks bouncier today.

think stress can zap your energy levels, together with dark evenings. I have started on vitamin tablets and am not falling asleep all the time now.

Fmess - was so tempted to look at the doggies but was bit tearful when handing over my old dog food so not ready for a new one yet.

Bob have taken all my friends doggies out for walks but its the company I miss in the house. Yes potty me talks to her dog. Had a good conversation with the bunny last night - needs to get out more.

Justforme - sorry to hear about your schoolfriend hugs Sounds like a great community you have there - hope it helps family/friends in their grief.

Syn - ok now you are creeping me out. Been looking at new bathmats - Home Bargains had lovely plush ones. Might use my nectar points next week - double up from 18th and buy a couple of fluffy towels. What is the FIRE thing - arson planning or is it a retire early thing? Let us know how the frosting goes as would be great to do half way up my porch.

Thrifty see there was no need to worry men can cope when left unattended.

Today another SFD and 30 off CC1 which clears that one.

Have a great humpday folks x

  • Just wanted to share my news with you all - I've been offered a new job! Went for interview yesterday and had the phone call this morning. It's better money than I'm on now but initially only on a temp contract, and no guarantee it will be extended. But, it's the field I want to work in and too good an opportunity to pass up so I have accepted the offer.

Will be back to post properly later on!

    Hello everyone!
Congratulations on the job Welshkitty, great news.
Feel a bit flat today, my account is overdrawn and sadly will go more overdrawn (by £20 at the moment) and I need to balance transfer a CC again but it's being a pita about it. I want to combine the balance of two cards on it but one is under £250 so I can't transfer it now but I am hoping I can transfer at a later date. Once these are paid off that's it, I'm done with credit cards, they are an absolute pain in the backside. I have £600 to pay off so not a lot to most people but to me that's loads and I don't earn much as I only work a few hours a week so I have to be very careful with money.
Today was a spend day sadly, I have been trying to get hold of these decorating clips for ages and I can't get them in town and DH and I were out in a bigger town to get him some workshoes and I saw them in sainsbos and thought I better get them while I was there.
Also we found out today that the roof lantern we want for the extension will be dearer than the one we were originally quoted for. We asked a mate who is a roofer for advice and he agreed that we should go for pitched one as opposed to the flat one as it is less likely to leak and will be cheaper in the long run, we can afford it as we have a separate account of the building works so that's all accounted for but its just a bit frustrating! It's been a slow process for a number of reasons but now the builders are back again and they are cracking on so it should be done in a few weeks.
Tomorrow will still be a spend day though as there are a few things I need to get. But I have cash for that so it won't impact on my overdraft.
    Today I am grateful for-
The sunshine and a mild autumnal day
The builders getting on and finishing our extension
Having food, clothes, warmth and freedom.

    Welcome back Thrifty.

    Great news WelshKitty.

I have cobbled a meal together for everyone from random freezer bits and some baked beans. Everything is running a bit low but I am going to Lidl tonight for a full shop.
