TOG - it is such a lovely thing you did for that family. I know you've mentioned them before and I thought it then too. To hear this update is very heart warming. A lot of people talk the talk regards charity but you really went that step further. Hope your night shift will be bearable.
Ani Fan - sounds a great cat name
Mothernerd - hairy baby day care? Never heard of it but sounds very amusing. Have heard people calling animals their 'fur babies' it makes me smile." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

A NSD. Loads of washing put out on the line (sorry to those who got caught in the subsequent rain). Kitchen looks good but a bit weird. Took notes from books and returned them to the library. I have enough tasks for the next two months - need to write a few lists, grand cleaning plan etc.
Tog great to hear your update on the family you helped.
Film was Big Hero 6. The inflatable robot nurse (Baymax?) picks up a cat and calls it a 'hairy baby'. I haven't seen the second half of the film (I got a reprieve after I fell asleep the third time) but I assumed that part of the plot was that Baymax opens the 'hairy baby day care centre' to earn money after the villain steals all the money.
Now not sure if this is part of the film or not but someone had the idea of him doing that and made it into a t-shirt. (DS3 bought a t-shirt and then made me watch the film so I understood his t-shirt). The idea seems to have taken off because there is a hairy baby clothing company in Ireland (selling Father Ted memorabilia amongst other things), someone running an adoption scheme for orphan bears and various other 'spin-offs (not official more tangential).
Today I am grateful for good reading material, for rediscovering useful bits hidden in the piles of stuff (actually mostly useful bits but when they will be needed and how to store them to that point is more complicated) and for getting outside in the sunshine before I made it rain.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Wow - as a newbie and long time lurker this is the most friendly and supportive thread!
Couple of spendy days - food shopping and few Christmas pressies so all budgeted for.
Another item sold and more listed on fleabay, reaching out to someone is having a family member live with us after finding themselves homeless.
Grateful for being in a position to help others, that DS's football training was cancelled due to bad weather and for supportive MSE threads!0 -
Hmmm, if we go down the cat-in-the-name road, then I become cat muncher...!
Today I am grateful for another NSD (#6), for making a pair of leggings for one of dd's dolls and she likes them, for 5 children and It on the box, for amaaaazing fireworks at dd's school, for lovely chats with other big people while our girls danced.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Trying to figure my new name out. A bit concerned that the first name that came to mind was Cat Stew.
Today I am grateful for:
* Our dog (my parent's dog as we are dogsitting tonight) not being scared by the fireworks.
* My OH accepting that I want to sort out our finances and having the awareness to do something about it.
* Grateful for cheesy films... we are currently watching Crocodile Dundee.
Spend-free day today. Only really left the house to take the dog for a walk. This was my fourth day... sorry to be confusing.
Wishing November away as I really want to get my pay at the end of the month and see if I can eliminate the credit card. It feels so weird to be at this stage, so close and yet not quite there.
The plan was originally to go after the mortgage by overpaying each month (once the credit card is gone) but I might be heading on to a fixed rate with an extra £40k on top of our current mortgage. I can't really explain fully on here but it is a loan type thing with my parents and they will pay me back eventually.
Depending on what happens with this, I will either overpay my mortgage monthly or start saving so when the fix ends, I can pay off a lump sum.
It's all a bit up in the air just now. Hopefully we will have it all sorted by the time January hits.
:undecided
Hugs to everyone,

JoR well done for taking in your relativeThat's so kind of you!
tog yay for the family you so selflessly helped
Today was a spendy day - £6 on food for next week, £23 on the long awaited part to mend my dog crate and then mist of the money I got from the bank on 2 shower curating (I've put off replacing the manky ones for 5 years so treated myself), Christmas presents and lunch out whilst at a Christmas fair (this is one of my two outings).
I think I've come to the realisation that I might need to get into more debt. There is a real chance that my house is suffering from subsidence and in the next couple of months I'm going to bite the bullet and get a builder/engineer to diagnose the problem and come up with a solution. This is likely to be costly but I need to face facts that if it is subsidence, it's only going to get worse and further damage my house. I think I'll leave things until the new year and need to study the survey from when I bought the house plus the insurance documents, there's an outside chance that it could be covered.
Today I am grateful for:-
1. Good friends
2. My lovely mum
3. Having a more positive day
