Hi all, I have managed to put another £15.00 to my emergency fund. Total so far £35.00 = 0.58% I am here for the long hall, it will be slow, though I am so happy there is no pressure to get to my target. (#100) x

    Can I join?

We are both 38 and just about to complete on our currently rented house which will wipe out our savings. I wasn't going to use all our savings for the deposit initially but it brought us into 85% LTV to use all of it.

Mortgage is over 29 years to make payments affordable but we hope to bring that down in a few years when DH earning as well (currently full time student).

Hoping to overpay a little, but really want to build up emergency fund as only me working for the next 2 years.

I'm going to aim for a massive £10000. It will be a slow progression as we have 3 children and eye-watering childcare bills. But I do lots of overtime when DH can look after kids which is well paid.

I want to aim for £1.5k per year for the next 2 years, more if possible. I've just returned from maternity leave and not sure how the finances are going to play out with the new mortgage payment and increased childcare so will have to see.
