Hi all, I'm back.
Disappeared for a while as laptop and internet was starting to take over my life, so I took a break from it to try and wean myself off.
Successful little venture, I've balanced out my the other aspects of my life a little and can trust myself not to sit like a slobby blob infront of the computer for hours at a time.
In my absence I have slowly added £526.76 to my savings pot, bringing my total up to £951.76

Hi all, hope everyone is having a fab bank holiday! I came back from the Hen Party in Bath- it was so beautiful there and we all had a great time!
I've been looking at the savings spreadsheet and found out after the deposit and legal fees come out we currently have £1900 extra!! :j So OH and I have decided half is for the emergency fund and half is for house things when we move in. Please can my total be updated to £950?
Also just booked my travel to Yorkshire for the end of the month- by going by coach instead of train saved half the money wahoo! Looking forward to putting that money in the fund at the end of MayGoals for 2017:- [STRIKE]Complete purchase of house[/STRIKE]
- Save emergency fund- £1200/ £9300

Yes, skye blue, I'm very proud indeed:T:A:beer:
There are lots of reasons why sellers and buyers stay away, poor weather being a major factor. Buyers aren't used to getting up and going out so early in the mornings whilst it's still really chilly:(. This early in the year before the outdoor car boot season really gets into full swing people aren't used to discovering when they're on. Also, a busy weekend like a Bank Holiday one often means there are so many other events on and people have too much choice about how to spend their time. There are plenty of factors that can contribute to a poor sale but please don't let it put you off. By the end of May you'll probably find weather conditions and interest from buyers much improved;)
I did a car boot sale yesterday instead of a regular early Sunday morning one. OH had to drive past the Sunday one on his way home from somewhere and he said it looked very thin on the ground:(. Normally, that one is heaving. The one I did on the Monday afternoon was part of a May Day Fun Day and attracted lots of families and probably people who wouldn't go to car boot sales normally. There were a lot of sellers though so lots of competition:(. Managed to make £131 after fees but I know that was a 'one off'.
Good Luck and well done on what you did make :beer:0 -
Happy May everyone! Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend. It managed to rain the whole weekend here so we had lots of indoor playtime which my son was most upset about!
My emergency fund has taken another dive, but ultimately it's for a good reason. I had £261 of catalogue debt hanging around that was on 0% but I just thought sod it! Get rid of it, so I used my emergency fund to get it paid off. So I'm down to £548.23 at the moment but I'm confident it will be going back up soon as I have nothing else coming up that should dent it. The only thing that might is when I get the car serviced in July as I might not have enough saved in my car maintenance fund by then.
Today I also opened my son's Junior ISA and have selected his investment fund. I'm going to be putting £25 a month into there for the time being and hoping to up it over the years.0 -
Morning all,
Still stuck at £135.00 due to vet bills!
Hoping to add a little come pay day this week.Emergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000
Savings Pot £1,440.00
Xmas 2018=£100/£300 Australia =£0.00/60000 -
I am creeping back up
Today I have £470.06 the 6p being interest paid into the accounts!
I have also been putting money into the holiday funds and another savings account and realised that it was the account I used for the car, and it hasn't been reassigned for anything yet. It's at a health £347.
So I am considering saving up to redecorate my house with it. I have been here 6 years and some things really need updating! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
#2 update
As my 2nd target is my car savings, I needed to take £40 out to have my handbrake repaired but also got £15.08 added.
New total is £383.02 aka 7.66%.
Keep on keeping on everyone
