3-6 Month Emergency Fund Challenge!!
Comments
-
Got my payslip (it gets emailed every tues but we don't get paid until fri) so have jiggled my budget.
I have paid £43.09 into my ISA to make it a round £8200, my yearly interest should get paid into the ISA on Friday so wanted to pop a little in there just before.
I may have to take around £600 out of the ISA after for an emergency, but I won't do this until after the interest has been paid, and I will try to cover as much as possible from my current accounts.
I did an extra shift on Sunday, so that will be a few extra pennies next week.
EF now stands at £84.41.

Hi everyone,
Ive been alittle off the radar as of late in terms of being on the forum but now payday has finally come around i can update my total.
New total #5 £2,747.28/£3000 (91.57%)
Im hoping that with a few eBay sales and pay day next month ill be able to reach my 100%, along as no problems rear their ugly heads that cause me to use my emergency fund!
Im also planning on not drinking this following month apart from a wedding I'm going to with a friend. Seen as though most of my personal spends money goes on food and drink, I'm hoping this will leave me with extra money at the end of the month to add to the fund too! The issue I've got is that I have a new flatmate, and we love nothing more than curling up infront of the TV with a bottle of wine  wish me luck haha

BF made the mistake of leaving a 20p coin lying around for a couple of days, it's now safe in TurtlePig.
Had to take £500 out of my ISA for an emergency so for simplicity's sake I'm just going to add my ISA into the target rather than the difference as it's getting me too confused!
Target £10,000
Saved £7,715.79
Sorry for the confusion DreamerHelen!!

Sorry I haven't posted lately but I'm always popping in for a read. Big congratulations to all of you who've added savings and commiserations to anyone who has been finding things a struggle.
Helen, I hope things are going alright for you and that Grandad is making good progress:kisses3:
I've just checked the 1st page for my number and see I was one of the earliest to join the challenge but I'm embarrassed that I've probably added less money than most of you in that time:o. I've given myself a good talking to;) and promise to do better.
I'm a member of the Make £10 a Day Challenge on MSE and it really keeps me motivated and accountable. I manage to make a bit of extra in all sorts of painless ways but have always had to use it to eke out my DMP budget:o. With a bit of re-jigging of my payments I can now just about manage without having to rely on the extra that I make to make ends meet payday to payday.
This is the first month I've been able to commit this 'extra' as savings:j and hope to do the same every month. I made about £305 in September mainly from selling stuff at car boot and table-top sales, and on Amazon and eBay. Plus cashback (takes ages to mount up as I can't afford to buy much to get any cashback on:o) and money cashed out from doing surveys.
I need to keep a bit back for an essential purchase that isn't budgeted for but I have added £250 to my savings :j:j:j so that's:
member # 12 adding £250 making my total now £550:dance:
Will tot up my balance at the end of each month so I know definitely how much I can commit to saving. The last thing I want is to add it and then have to withdraw it again. With a bit of luck the money I save in this challenge is to stay untouched as it's earmarked for my 'new to me' secondhand car when the current one finally dies.
Have a good October, everyone:beer:0 -
Once again BF has donated money to TurtlePig. He says he will only spend it on rubbish if I don't take it, so who am I to argue?!

Hi all sorry for my absence. Ive not had chance to catch up with the thread so I hope everyone is ok. Ive also not had chance to add to my total for a while so I have just added £10 to my ISA to try and keep my momentum going....Im aiming to add more towards the end of October.
New Total = £57400 -
My Mum gave me £20 towards DGDs birthday, so it's gone into the emergency pot. Along with some small cash sewing jobs, I have managed to replace the funds I'd withdrawn, and total is now exactly
£1000
As of today. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
#2 update
small addition of £32.92 into the pot. This takes my new total to £7257.80 aka 83.42%......slow and steady
Keep on keeping on everyone.
